AUGUST 2019
This month we are celebrating 89 adoptions in July!! It's an astounding number, and many thanks are due to those who helped make it happen: our dedicated foster volunteers who enable us to care for more animals that the adoption center can hold; our hardworking cat and dog care volunteers who feed and clean their hearts out twice a day; the operations team, who manage the health and well-being of this multitude of furry personalities; and the customer service crew, who helps each animal find a home that fits just right.

And you, our community of supporters, who make possible this lifesaving bonanza through financial support and sharing of word. Give yourself a little pat on the back! With NBC's Clear the Shelters coming up this weekend and the Pet Food Express Bay Area Pet Fair next month, there's more to come (or go home, as they case may be). With your help, we'll find loving homes for them all.
NBC's Clear the Shelters
It's that time of year again, when we pair up with NBC and Telemundo to find homes for not one...not some...but ALL of the dogs and cats in our care! Clear the Shelters is set for Saturday, August 17 from 10 am to 4 pm. All adoption fees will be waived for this special event. Watch us live on NBC Bay Area's evening news on Wednesday, August 14th for a sneak peek at the coming cuteness!
Go Back with a Study Buddy
Back-to-school shopping isn't complete without a Study Buddy! Throughout August, qualified adopters can bring home a kitten companion for just $25. Cuddle up with a Bookworm, get to know a Teacher's Pet, or practice your pros and cons with a Captain of the Debate Team. All kittens come with grade-A personalities, spay/neuter, microchip, and appropriate vaccines. Each Study Buddy is  certifiably fluffy, proven to reduce stress and improve reading skills!
Junior Volunteers Begin Anew
September also marks the return of Junior Volunteers, our popular program for pet-loving youth ages 12-15. Attendees gain valuable volunteer experience working alongside our Humane Education team to feed and care for Valley Humane Society's feline residents. Full training is provided. Available four-week sessions run on Tuesdays or Thursdays. Sessions fill up quickly, so enroll today to make a difference in the lives of adoptable cats!

Raise a Glass to Rescue
Help save a life with every toast! Darcie Kent Winery's Dog Day Cabernet benefits Valley Humane Society with the donation of $5 for every bottle sold. And now you can grab some for your next picnic or dinner party at one of 8 Northern CA Costco locations.
Bay Area Pet Fair
September marks the 9th anniversary of Pet Food Express's Bay Area Pet Fair. Join Valley Humane Society, your Hometown  at the Alameda Country Fairgrounds on September 15 & 15  for North America's largest pet adoption and pet fun event!
Bring a Friend
Anyone with a Facebook page can create a personal fundraiser to help the dogs and cats in need. Try starting a birthday collection where your friends can honor your special passion, or celebrate a special moment of your own design.
