Radical Welcoming

Gathering Music 10:25am - Service 10:30am

A random encounter on a busy street corner uncovers deep longing and becomes the catalyst for a lifetime project of welcoming the stranger. How can the practice of radical hospitality become a part of our own lives?

From the Minister

Greetings, FUSW folks! It's great to be back amongst you after my time away, which was of course punctuated by all the political tumult of the past week. No matter what happens in Washington this month, we have some thought-provoking and soul-satisfying services planned for you in January. Our Board of Trustees will also be hosting a "Fireside Chat" later this month, in which we'll begin to envision the way forward for this congregation, after all we've been through this year.

During this season of new starts and hopeful resolutions, I encourage you to think about how you might share your gifts and talents with FUSW. Now is a great time to get more involved with this community of care and connection. I look forward to seeing and talking with each of you at an upcoming service, or other FUSW event. Meanwhile, be well and stay safe!

~ Blessings, Kristina

A statement of your total tax-deductible contribution to FUSW for the calendar year 2020 will be in the mail next week. You will receive two pages, one with contributions from January through June, and one from July through December. Members and friends who pledged to the operating budget for the FUSW fiscal year (July 2020 through June 2021) recently received status reports on their pledge payments. (Yes, our fiscal year differs from the calendar/tax year.) Questions? Contact Susan Greenberg (fuswtreasurer@gmail.com) or Rina Schunk (admin@fusw.org).
Fireside Chat

FUSW Fireside Chat, Saturday, January 30, 4:00pm
The FUSW Board invites you to a virtual "Fireside Chat" where we can hear each other's thoughts on our pandemic-era services and activities, plus ideas for the remainder of the year and beyond. The Board will also share a few brief updates. Please mark your calendar and watch for an agenda soon. Click here to log in to the Fireside Chat, or call 646 558 8656 (audio only), Meeting ID: 961 1638 3341, Passcode: 422908.
Congregation Survey

To prepare for the January 30 "Fireside Chat," we have created a survey to gather important information and take the pulse of the congregation. It should take no more than 5 minutes of your time. You may remain anonymous or share your name in the comments - your choice. Either way, we need your input! Questions? Contact Rina (admin@fusw.org). Click here to open the survey.
FUSW Book Group

The FUSW book group is currently reading Such a Fun Age by Kiley Reid, which NPR calls "a page-turner with beautifully drawn characters and a riveting plot." Want to join the discussion? Contact Denise Woodin (dcw2@optonline.net).

Textile Recycling at FUSW

Green Tree Textiles is still collecting goods placed in the bin in our lot, which is now listed on the company's map of box locations. You can drop off clothing, shoes, household linens, fabric scraps, handbags, and accessories and they will be recycled, reused, or donated. (Not accepted: bathroom rugs, pillows, comforters, soft toys, or electronics.) Since Goodwill isn't accepting donations now, Green Tree is an excellent alternative.
Share the Plate for January: Federated Conservationists

The mission of Federated Conservationists of Westchester County is to provide leadership that educates about environmental issues, advocates for sound decision making, unifies groups and individuals to address climate change, and protects and preserves Westchester's environment. We collect for our Share the Plate partner throughout the month. Visit fusw.org, click "Donate," and select "Share the Plate."
