January 2024

Cheers to a tail-wagging 2024! Valley Humane Society is leaping into the new year with boundless joy, creating a world where every cat and dog finds a home. Last year, your support led to more than 600 adoptions, creating countless moments of happiness. In addition, the Phil Schlolz Veterinary Surgery Center opened, providing a much-needed community resource to the East Bay and beyond. More than 5,500 spay/neuter surgeries were performed last year, allowing many of those cats and dogs to be adopted more quickly. Our community's compassion shone brightly, making 2023 a milestone year. Thank you for being a part of these heartwarming stories of success!

As we dive into 2024, our resolution is to continue this momentum, bringing smiles, new homes, and joy to all. What will you do in 2024? If your goals involve companionship, community, or giving back, we can help! Take a look for some ideas of resolutions where you can create real change.

Resolve to Make a Difference

Embrace the spirit of new beginnings at the Make a Difference for Pleasanton Festival on January 13, 2024, from 10 am to 2 pm at the Pleasanton Senior Center, 5353 Sunol Blvd. This free event is resolution in action, with more than 40 nonprofits in attendance, emergency preparedness insights, and community service opportunities. Valley Humane's team will be present, inspiring you to kickstart the year with impactful resolutions—like volunteering at our adoption center, getting involved with Canine Comfort Pet-Assisted Therapy, giving back, and making a positive difference. Turn your resolutions into reality and help shape a community that thrives on collective contributions. See you there!

Resolve to Make Life Better

As we settle into the New Year, we invite you to to make a change that changes lives: become a foster family! Shelters all around California are reaching full capacity, and fostering provides a lifesaving solution by expanding Valley Humane's walls to help more animals. Foster homes for dogs are especially needed. By opening your heart and home, you help prepare pets for adoption, aid in their healing, and provide love and temporary shelter. Join the Foster Families Workshop at our Nevada Street adoption center in Pleasanton on Wednesday, January 17, at 5 pm to embark on this rewarding journey. RSVP now and make a wonderful difference in 2024!

Resolve to Make a Plan

Be remembered for your meaningful support of the cause you believe in by leaving a legacy that impacts companion animals into the future. You can use the FreeWill Platform to create both a will and a living trust—and it only takes 20 minutes.

A will (or revocable trust) is the best way to:

• Protect the people and pets you love.

• Save your family stress and time by giving exact instructions on how to handle your estate.

• Start a legacy with Valley Humane to create compassionate communities

and care for dogs and cats for generations to come.

Get started today and make 2024 the year you build a brighter future!
