Cool Loneliness: Finding Meaning in Solitude
Rev. Kristina Church
Gathering Music 10:25am - Service 10:30am

Some people choose solitude; some of us have it thrust upon us through life changes that inevitably come with being human. Is there a difference between loneliness and solitude? How can we as a community support each other through all the seasons of our lives?

2020 Review

The Board of Trustees has compiled a review of our congregation's activities and, in the midst of this challenging time, FUSW has remained vibrant. We invite you to read the 2020 Highlights report here before our Fireside Chat this Saturday.
From the Minister

Greetings FUSW folx!

How are the first few weeks of the new year treating you? I hope that you, like me, feel a sense of relief: the new year and a new administration bring a chance to breathe, to relax our jaws and shoulders, to take a respite from the stress and strain of 2020.

And yet, as the inaugural bliss subsides and the realities of our situation sink in, we might also be experiencing some feelings of letdown. As we wait for the sled dogs to arrive with the serum that will save us,* how can we continue to function, to breathe, to care for ourselves, to live and love, in this scary and challenging time?

We can reach inward and reach outward, to care for ourselves and each other, just as humans always have and I hope, always will. This weekend, I’ll be sharing some ideas about loneliness and solitude that great thinkers and religious leaders have shared. I hope you’ll join us for a service that may lift you up and comfort you, no matter what your situation.

We’ll continue to explore ways to create an even more caring and connected community during our Fireside Chat on Saturday, featuring your awesome Board of Trustees. I hope you’ll come and share what is on your mind, as we plan for the future of FUSW. We need everyone’s ideas to make this a truly loving and beloved community. I’ll see you there!

Many blessings, and I’ll see you soon!

~ Kristina

* I couldn’t resist a reference to the Iditarod, a race to bring diphtheria vaccine serum to people living in the Alaskan Bush, which is now an annual sporting event in my home state of Alaska!

UPDATE - Year End Tax Statements
Due to a reporting change, you may have received statements for contributions from January through June 2020 that did not include pledge payments made during that time. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. This week we will send out new statements for that time period. Questions? Contact treasurer Susan Greenberg (fuswtreasurer@gmail.com) or Rina Schunk (admin@fusw.org).
