June 2024

Can you believe it's already June? Summer is here, and we’re as thrilled as our furry friends to bask in the sunshine. As we gear up to celebrate our 10th annual Tails at Twilight gala, we're also buzzing about the pet food drive at the Alameda County Fair and our fun upcoming adoption events. If you’re looking for a way to get more involved, this summer is the perfect time to consider a rewarding volunteer role at Valley Humane that will warm your heart long after the popsicles melt. Let’s dive into the summer spirit together and make a positive impact on the lives of pets and people in our community.

Feed Furry Friends and Get Into the Fair for Free

Enjoy summer festivities at the Alameda County Fair in Pleasanton and make a difference for pets in need! On Wednesday, June 19, from 12 to 5 pm, your pet food donation will earn you free fair admission!  Any 6-lb. bag (or greater) of dry cat or dog food can be exchanged for one fair admission, or donate eight cans of wet cat food or four cans of wet dog food per ticket. Multiple donations can be made to earn multiple tickets, good for June 19 only. Your kindness will benefit Valley Humane's AniMeals pet food pantry and other local shelters, keeping pets fed and happy with their families. Stock up for fun now!

Help for Pets that Need New Homes

Keeping pets out of shelters is a big priority here at Valley Humane, and one of the best ways to prevent that from happening is by helping pets find another home when they need it. Home to Home, our free direct-to-adopter tool, does just that, uniting pet guardians with adopters so that pets can pass between loving hands without seeing the inside of a shelter. It creates a win-win from a sometimes difficult situation: you get to make the best match for your pet, and adopters are able to learn firsthand about all their new animal’s charming quirks and preferences. We get it…life happens! Home to Home is here to make your family’s rehoming process as easy as possible, supporting you and your pets through life's challenges.

Future-Proof Your Pets with a FreeWill Plan

While you’re planning for vacations this summer, it’s a great time to think ahead for your pets as well. Having a plan – whether it’s for natural disasters or unexpected life events – ensures your pets will be safe and cared for, no matter what happens. With Valley Humane’s free resource, FreeWill, you can create or update your will, including your plans for your pets, in just 20 minutes. You always remember to pack the sunscreen...make sure your pets’ future is protected, no matter what life may throw your way!

If you happen to have already included Valley Humane Society in your will or estate plan, would you fill out this quick form so we can keep our records updated and show our appreciation?
