Share the Plate for Summer: Inter-Group Association of Alcoholics Anonymous of New York

The Inter-Group Association of Alcoholics Anonymous of New York, Inc., fondly referred to as New York Inter-Group (“NYIG”), was formed by NY area A.A. groups to help fulfill their primary purpose — carrying the A.A. message to still-suffering alcoholics. NYIG is often the first A.A. contact point for people who think they may have a problem with alcohol. Since 1946, NYIG has been the information exchange center for A.A. groups in the greater NYC area for events and matters concerning A.A. as a whole. We collect for our Share-the-Plate partner throughout the month. Visit, clickDonate, and selectShare the Plate.

Message from the Minister

Greetings, FUSW folks! I hope you all had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend.

This Sunday will be my final time in the FUSW pulpit as your minister, and how fitting that the service will be dedicated to the theme of gratitude. I'm deeply thankful for the time we've had together this year, even under the difficult circumstances all of us have faced.

Please do know that although I won't be in the pulpit after this Sunday, I will still be serving the congregation until mid-August, so please do drop me a line or give me a call, if there is any way I can support you right now. I'd love to hear from you!

Remember, too, that our annual summer gathering of Unitarian Universalists, General Assembly, is all virtual this year, and will be taking place from Wednesday, June 23 through Sunday, June 27. It's never been easier or less expensive to attend! Click here for more information about the GA schedule and to register as a participant.

Many blessings to you, and I hope to see you Sunday!

With warmth and gratitude ~ Kristina

Coming Full Circle

Worship Service "Coming Full Circle," Sunday, June 13, 10:30am, in person at FUSW and on Zoom
As the title suggests, our last regular service will celebrate how we've "come full circle." The pandemic shut things down 16 months ago, and now we gather in person again for our traditional year-end outdoor service to honor all that our community means and has meant to us during this difficult year. Arrive at FUSW with a folding chair or two, and your own brown bag lunch and drink. Then claim a space for yourself in the parking lot or on the grass in front of the steps, and settle in for some great music. This special worship is as much a celebration concert as a year-end service, so be with us and be a part of it all. Masks will be required per UUA guidelines. We will also show the service via Zoom. If it rains we will have a Zoom service, with musicians "broadcasting" from FUSW; the building will only be open to the musicians, so please stay home.
It Was Out of This World!

In April, the FUSW Players presented a live Zoom reading of the fun and fantastical Visit to a Small Planet by Gore Vidal. Both the audience and participants had so much fun! If you’d like to watch it again, or check out some screenshots, go to our Members page on and click on "Play Reading from 4/17/2021." Many thanks again to our producer, Betsy Kates, our actors (Kristina Church and Rafa, Art Lowenstein, Craig Butler, Jane Lawrence, Rita Rigano, Pam Parker, Paul Gross and Diane Guernsey), and our director (Joe Burby, with tech help from Ron Katz). We're looking forward to our next production!
Step Up for Summer Services

Summer is coming, and with it our lay-led summer services! We have a lot of exciting opportunities this season, including some surprises and new collaborations. We need YOU to step up to the plate to help coordinate them, as well as to lead. Tech support available, of course. Contact Craig Butler ( or Betsy Kates ( to join the team.
