It seems unbelievable that we’re nearly halfway through 2021! After the slow pace forced upon nearly all aspects of life by the pandemic, things are suddenly moving very quickly. Plans are underway for our annual Tails at Twilight gala, now an October affair (save the date for the 29th – more to follow!), and we’re looking ahead to how Valley Humane serves the community as we jump to another “new normal.”

There has been an undercurrent of public concern that the huge increase in pet ownership during 2020 would result in a mass of returned pets once people went back to work. So far, data collected at nearly 200 shelters statewide actually shows a decrease in cat and dog intake. This is great news…though it also means fewer animals may be available for adoption. Down the road, it could mean animals who already have a home are the ones who most need help! If you haven’t already, be sure to take our pet care survey, which will share valuable information about the kind of care pets in our community need most. Thank you for everything you do!
