Message from the Minister

Happy Post-Election Week, everybody! I hope you're enjoying what Stephen Colbert called “all of this available brain space... it's not filled with anything else yet. It's just like a clean kitchen counter where something could be made, if we're just not cluttering it up with that guy.” No doubt it will soon get filled up with something. But until then, enjoy the feeling of quietude and relief.

If the sense of contemplative spaciousness feels like a place you want to spend more time, consider joining our UU Wellspring program, which is open to members of both the congregations I serve. Click HERE for a short video with some testimonials from UUs who have participated in UU Wellspring, including our own Rev. Viola Abbitt!

Seven participants are signed up right now, and there's room for two or three more people. Our starting retreat is this Saturday, November 14, from 2:00-6:00pm, and will be facilitated by Wellspring director Linnea Nelson. After that, I'll be facilitating our two-hour Zoom meetings on Wednesday nights. The congregation is paying the costs, so there is no cost to you.

Here are the Wednesdays we'll be meeting together: Nov. 18; Dec 2 & 16; Jan 6 & 20; Feb 3 & 17; Mar 3, 17 & 31; Apr 14 & 28; May 12 & 26; Jun 9 & 23; and Jul 7. If you think you might be interested, please give me a call or send me an email! I'll be happy to answer any questions you might have.

One last thing! Early notice for holiday plans at FUSW: since we can't get together and decorate for the holidays as usual at the Society, we're planning on making a video montage of FUSW folks decorating their own spaces, to share in a December worship service. So if you decide to do a little early holiday decorating this year, be sure and take some photos -- or a short video -- of the fun! More information about holiday plans will be coming out in future editions of The Scoop.

Meanwhile, I wish you all a restful and healthy week. Be safe, stay well, and I'll see you soon! ~ Blessings ~ Rev. Kristina
From the Treasurer

Among the many experiences we are missing without in-person services is the opportunity to pass the plate. We urge you to estimate what you would be putting in the plate each Sunday and every once in a while mail a check to FUSW or click on the Donate button at and make that contribution. Remember, for November and December, half the amount collected in the plate (called "Weekly Collection Basket" on the Donate dropdown options) will be used for holiday gifts for our staff. Please be generous.
