November 2023

This November, gratitude takes center stage as we begin to reflect on what 2023 has given us here at Valley Humane. It's been an incredible year, with over 500 adoptions so far, hundreds of Canine Comfort visits all over the Bay Area, and over 4000 procedures performed at the Phil Scholz Veterinary Surgery Clinic, which just opened in May. We couldn't do it without YOU--our incredible volunteers, generous donors, and committed community members! This month, we are saying THANK YOU to all of you. We are incredibly grateful for the overwhelming spirit of giving that infuses all you do, and invite you to celebrate with us this month.

Giving Tips for Change: November 13

Indulge in a delightful dinner experience and express your gratitude by giving tips graciously! Next Monday, November 13, join us at Gianni's Italian Bistro in San Ramon for dinner from 4:30-8 pm. Our committed volunteer servers, driven by your incredible generosity, will expertly serve up the restaurant's mouthwatering Italian cuisine. Save your spot by making reservations today, or opt to order convenient carryout. 100% of the tips given will support Valley Humane's programs and services. In the true spirit of giving, Gianni's Italian Bistro will also donate an additional 10% of their sales, making it an impactful night dedicated to helping pets and the people who love them.

Giving Tuesday: November 28

On November 28, Valley Humane Society will join the global movement that is Giving Tuesday. Following the hustle and bustle of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday is a reminder to express gratitude by giving back. This year we're excited to announce a 1:1 match, generously offered by our friends Robert and Diane Butler. Every dollar donated to Valley Humane--up to $25,000--will be doubled! It's an opportunity to magnify the reach of your giving, making each donation go twice as far in supporting our vital programs and services and helping to build a brighter future for companion animals. RSVP to receive a Facebook reminder and donate on Giving Tuesday to double the love and support for the animals who depend on us.

Giving Thanks for You: Today and Every Day

In this season of gratitude, we at Valley Humane Society want to extend our heartfelt thanks to our community of supporters. Your dedication has had a profound impact on pets and people in our community, allowing Valley Humane to provide much-needed services through programs such as AniMeals, pet adoption, Canine Comfort pet therapy, and the Phil Scholz Veterinary Surgery Center. Your generous participation in our various fundraising events has provided essential resources, ensuring the well-being and happiness of countless animals. Your unwavering support fuels our mission, and we are deeply grateful for your commitment and generosity. Together, we've made a significant difference this year, and we look forward to accomplishing even more in the year ahead. Thank you for all the ways you help create a better world for cats and dogs in our community.

Extra Treats

Giving Meals

Valley Humane Society's AniMeals program embodies the spirit of giving by helping pet guardians ensure their furry friends don't go hungry this Thanksgiving (or any time of year). Through partnerships with local food banks, we distribute donated dog and cat food to those in need. Your support makes a difference, and we welcome donations of wet or dry dog and cat food, regardless of brand or condition. If you or someone you know needs food for their pets, find our distribution locations online or call (925) 426-8656 Tuesday-Saturday from 10 am - 4 pm.

Giving Knowledge

Every month, contestants of Home Brew Trivia gather at McKay's Taphouse in downtown Pleasanton to enjoy a fabulous night of trivia, with unique auction items and delicious food and drinks. Custom trinkets and cool pet accessories are also available, for a donation to Valley Humane Society. Join in this month's inquisitive action on Tuesday, November 21 at 7 pm. It's a great way to have fun with your friends, give yourself a trivia test, and support Valley Humane. 10% of McKay's sales are also donated, so eat and drink to your heart's content!

Giving Time

Got time? Share a little of it, and make a huge difference as a Canine Comfort Pet Therapy volunteer. Valley Humane is actively seeking dog owners with weekday availability to volunteer with their pooch and represent us at schools and retirement homes in the Tri-Valley. You and your dog will provide unconditional love and friendship with visits to schools, nursing homes, and more, bringing joy to those in our community who need it most, Monday-Friday! Learn more about our pet therapy program, qualifications, and next steps to get involved. Apply today!
