About Our Guest
Scott’s professional biography goes something like: He’s been a hospice social worker for over thirty years. He has published over 100 articles in academic, professional and popular journals and magazines; (his favorite is Pulse: voices from the heart of medicine).
He was a founding member of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization’s Trauma Informed Care Workgroup. He has spoken frequently about trauma-informed care for terminally ill patients, end-of-life care for combat veterans, and a range of nearing-death experiences including near-death experiences, after-death communication, and end-of-life dreams and visions.
He has been interviewed by numerous media outlets and has written two books: Standing at Lemhi Pass: Archetypal Stories for the End of Life and Other Challenging Times explores the uses of historically based storytelling with hospice patients; Light Keepers is a metaphysical novel set in the aftermath of the American Civil War. It explores the power and peril of choosing love over fear when the world around us feels like it's falling apart.
Scott's real biography goes like this: Scott is down here on planet Earth doing his best, however imperfectly, to be a decent human being and a source of kindness to others. He loves his family, dogs, and pizza.

UU Solidarity Initiative
On Sunday, April 12, during coffee hour, you will have the opportunity to submit comments to the Department of Homeland Security regarding the agency’s proposed changes to the rules for work permits for asylum seekers." In a nutshell, the new rules will make it virtually impossible for asylum seekers to make a living while they’re waiting for their asylum cases to be heard. There will be a laptop set up for you to submit your comments to the Federal Register; you may want to draft your comments in advance to save time during coffee hour.
For more information and comment prompts, visit the UU Solidarity Initiative’s toolkit at: Work Permit Comment Guide - Google Docs. Questions? Contact Denise at deniseuu23@gmail.com.
