About Our Guest

Rev. Kym McNair is the descendant of enslaved Africans, Jamaican immigrants, community organizers, preachers, and teachers, carrying their legacies as she works to confront the oppressions that impact all of humanity—especially the ways systemic racism disempowers Black women and girls. She credits her organizing spirit to her mother, E. Theresa McNair, who safety-planned her way out of Jim Crow Mississippi during the Great Migration, settling in New York and dedicating her life to serving residents facing hunger and homelessness.

Professionally, Rev. McNair organizes on behalf of those who have experienced power and control in their intimate relationships and within the systems they must navigate daily. She has spoken on panels, facilitated dialogues for religious and civic organizations across Westchester, and consulted with congregations striving to integrate anti-racism principles into their ministries.

Rev. McNair serves on the Boards of Caring for the Hungry and Homeless of Peekskill (CHHOP) and the Westchester Women’s Agenda, where she contributes to the Reproductive Justice and Race Equity Working Groups.

A lifelong fan of science fiction and fantasy, she finds inspiration in Afro- and African futurist stories where women of every shade lead with wisdom and courage. Whether walking her rescue dog, Simba, or tending her garden, she dreams of a not-so-distant future—one where, like the heroines of her favorite stories, Black women’s voices are heard, their leadership is valued, and their lives are protected.

Congregational Meeting Notice

The FUSW Board announces a Congregational Meeting on Sunday, October 12, at noon, following the service. The meeting will take place in person at 210 NCA and via Zoom.
