Teen moms face endless obstacles. To Dr. Meredith Joppa, clinical psychologist and assistant professor in the Department of Psychology at Rowan University, the high rate of dating violence is among the most worrisome.

It’s common knowledge that the DNA passed down by parents is what determines a child’s genetic traits, down to hair and eye color. What Dr. Benjamin Carone, assistant professor in the Department of Molecular & Cellular Biosciences at Rowan University, is studying is somewhat different: not genetics, but epigenetics.

With $300,000 NSF grant, Rowan professor is developing brand-new biomaterials

Dr. Timothy Vaden, associate professor in the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry, has a plan to help stabilize the proteins used in biomaterials. His work could, in turn, stabilize research efforts conducted across fields like chemistry, biochemistry and bioengineering.

Rowan’s Grinias receives NSF grant to explore greener research methods

 Dr. James Grinias, assistant professor in the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry, may just be pioneering the next step in developing greener methods. The  National Science Foundation  (NSF) awarded him a three-year, $228,399 grant to work on a project to advance a promising alternative chromatography technique.

GAANN grant provides fellowships for graduate students in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity

A three-year, $300,486 grant from the  U.S. Department of Education  will provide full fellowships for Rowan University graduate students from underrepresented populations to pursue studies focusing on artificial intelligence or cybersecurity.

In Rowan University’s  Center for Behavior Analysis , professors who are Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA-D) and their students take on difficult problems of human concern across diverse populations, needs, and settings.

Caputo named Rowan’s first American Chemical Society fellow

Rowan University Professor Gregory Caputo, associate dean of the  College of Science & Mathematics , was the first in his family to attend college.
Now, he’s the first professor at Rowan University ever named a fellow of the  American Chemical Society  (ACS).

HES Assistant Professor Receives "Unsung Heroes Award"

Rowan University Assistant Professor in Community Health, Nicole A. Vaughn, Ph.D., was one of an awardee at the 2019 American Public Health Association conference in Philadelphia, PA sponsored by the National Community Based Organization Network (NCBON) .

Amy Barraclough, the director of the  Fredric and Jean Edelman Planetarium , represented Rowan University on the international stage this summer through the  Astronomy in Chile Educator Ambassadors Program  (ACEAP).

Clinical Ph.D. Student Awarded Psi Chi Research Grant

Rowan University Doctoral Student in Clinical Psychology, Krista Herbert, M.A. was awarded a 2018-19 Spring Graduate Research Grant by Psi Chi, the International Honor Society in Psychology.

Freshman Kasmier Vicioso receives inaugural EduContests Scholarship Award

Rowan University student Kasmier Vicioso, ’23 received the inaugural EduContests Scholarship Award. Viciosio is a freshman and is pursuing a BS in Biochemistry as part of the seven-year accelerated BS/DO program with the Rowan School of Osteopathic Medicine (SOM).
