NEW: Year-End Report to Incorporate ROA Data
To better support the NAIA's Return on Athletics® (ROA) initiative, the year-end report will change in 2020. The submission date will move from September 1 to December 1, 2020. While the report will continue to collect some of the current information, new ROA data fields will also be required. By providing these data, schools will gain access to ROA Insights , a data analytics tool which shows how athletics can affect the overall health of an institution, specifically through enrollment, student success, and financial viability.

More information will be available in the coming months to familiarize membership with the new submission process. Contact Alan Grosbach at 816.595.8120 with any questions.
NEW: Concordia University-Portland Closing
Concordia University-Portland (NCAA DII) announced on February 10, 2020, that the university will cease operations at the end of the 2020 spring semester. The school has issued a blanket release allowing institutions to initiate conversations with CU-Portland student-athletes about transferring. CU-Portland student-athletes transferring to an NAIA institution will not have to serve the 16-week residency requirement per Article V, Section G, Item 1, (casebook example). These students will still have to meet all other NAIA eligibility requirements.
2021 Basketball Selection Changes
As the NAIA prepares to transition to one division for both men’s and women’s basketball in 2020-21, the NAIA will also move to a selection committee model as the means for national championship selection. This infographic outlines the approved criteria for selection that the National Selection Committee will use to select at-large qualifiers and seed the basketball national championships in 2021 and beyond. Additionally, the selection committee will utilize a newly approved NAIA-RPI analytics tool for selecting the most deserving teams for postseason competition.
InCred Requirement Date Begins Jan. 15, 2021
Beginning January 15, 2021, international students will be required to  purchase   an  InCred evaluation   for eligibility decisions. International transcripts that are sent directly to the eligibility center will no longer be accepted. Only records submitted to and verified by InCred, as well as the official InCred credential evaluation, will be used to apply NAIA eligibility rules.

NEW: April 1: Cancellations & Term Change

Application Cancellations
Beginning April 1, 2020, cancellations (previously referred to as inactivation) will begin for students with winter 2019-20 or spring 2020 applications. Applications will be cancelled only for students who:
  • are registered for a winter 2019-20 or spring 2020 application,
  • have not completed a task since March 1, and
  • are not yet in line for review.

Students whose applications are cancelled and need an eligibility decision in a subsequent term will need to have their NAIA school start a new application on their behalf. Students will also receive this information via email.

Term for Decision Changes
PlayNAIA’s systematic term for decision will be set to Fall 2020, effective April 1, 2020.

As a reminder, registration fees are based on the student’s type upon registration. Students who have not yet paid the registration fee or who reapply after previously registering and paying the fee may be required to pay the difference if their student type changes on April 1.

PlayNAIA Enhancements

Based on membership feedback, eligibility center system enhancements went live on January 27. The site slowness related to the enhancements has been resolved. Thanks for your patience as this issue was addressed.

Domestic Transcript Submission Policy Change

Beginning March 2, 2020, all domestic transcripts must be sent through the following methods:

High School Transcripts
All official high school transcripts must be submitted to the eligibility center via the NAIA High School Portal. Other submission methods, such as mail or third-party vendors, will no longer be accepted.

Post-Secondary Transcripts
Official transcripts from all previous post-secondary institutions must be submitted directly by the issuing institution to the eligibility center. The preferred method of receiving transcripts will be through the NAIA Registrars Portal. Institutions who do not use the NAIA Registrars Portal will need to send transcripts through one of the following methods:
  • Approved third-party vendors - Parchment, National Student Clearinghouse, Credentials Solutions/E-Scrip Safe; if an email address is required for these services, the student must use [email protected].
  • Physical mail - official transcripts must be in a school sealed envelope and mailed to the eligibility center.
