NEW: Upcoming Opening Round Host Deadlines
There are still opportunities to host an opening round this spring for men's soccer, women's soccer, baseball, and softball. The deadline is April 1 to submit a bid for soccer and April 16 for baseball and softball.
NEW: Shawnee State Captures Men's Basketball Title; Westmont Wins Women's Basketball Championship
Shawnee State (Ohio) captured its first-ever national championship in men's basketball on Tuesday, March 23 at Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, Mo. The Bears defeated Lewis-Clark State (Idaho) by a score of 74-68 to win the 83rd Annual NAIA Men’s Basketball National Championship.

On the women's side, Westmont (Calif.) claimed its second women's basketball national title on Tuesday, March 23 at the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, Iowa. With a final score of 72-61, Westmont defeated Thomas More, bringing their all-time NAIA tournament record to 23-13.
NEW: Oklahoma City Wins Second Competitive Cheer Championship; St. Ambrose Takes Home Crown in Competitive Dance
In a tight contest, Oklahoma City captured their second NAIA Competitive Cheer National Championship on Saturday, March 13, finishing with the highest team score in NAIA championship history. The Stars team score of 91.53 was just .43 points above runner-up St. Ambrose (Iowa). Other top five finishers included: Indiana Wesleyan with 90.56, Missouri Valley with 90.5, and Xavier (La.) with 85.86.

St. Ambrose was named the 2021 NAIA Competitive Dance National Champions with a final score of 88.72. This is St. Ambrose's second national championship win in competitive dance. Rounding out the top five finishers were: Oklahoma City with 84.55, Morningside (Iowa) with 80.16, Grand View (Iowa) with 76.81, and Midland (Neb.) with 75.92.
NEW: Campbellsville Wins Women's Wrestling Invitational
Boosted by ten top-four finishes, Campbellsville (Ky.) captured its first NAIA Women’s Wrestling Invitational title Saturday, March 13, finishing with 185 points. Life (Ga.) had two individual champions and ten top-eight placers to finish second with 134.5 points. Wayland Baptist (Texas) was third with 100 points, Oklahoma City was fourth with 96.5 points, and Southern Oregon was fifth with 94.5 points.

Free Access to USCAH Athletics Healthspace Platform

The U.S. Council for Athletes' Health (USCAH) is offering NAIA members and student-athletes free access to their Athletics Healthspace Platform for COVID-19-related and healthcare education. To gain access:

  • Visit www.athleticshealthspace.com
  • Click “Create New Account with Institution Code”
  • Your username is your email address
  • Create a unique password
  • Your institution code is: NAIA
  • Complete the remaining questions for enrollment
  • Once you are logged into the platform, you can begin taking your education courses

Eligibility Center
NEW: New PlayNAIA Fee for Transfer Students

The COP Committee on the Eligibility Center recently approved a new student type and fee level. The “transfer student” fee, which will apply to U.S. and Canadian students who have college enrollment after high school graduation, is $150 and will go into effect May 1, 2021. Fees for all existing student types (U.S. and Canadian freshmen, U.S. and Canadian break students, international students) remain unchanged.
 
NEW: PlayNAIA Enhancements

PlayNAIA.org will be unavailable Friday, March 26, 6:00-10:00 p.m. CT for an enhancement release. You can review a list of the enhancements being made through the release notes, which are also accessible from your Resources page. Thank you for your patience and if you have questions or concerns following the enhancement release, please contact us.
 
NEW: April & May Business Hours

The eligibility center has adjusted hours on Fridays April 2- May 28. Eligibility center business hours for April and May are:
  • Monday - Thursday:  8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. CT
  • Friday: 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. CT

EC Forgoing April 1 Cancellations

In response to COVID-19 delayed championships, we will not cancel student applications on April 1. Normally, the system would cancel students who have not taken action on April 1. Students should still be encouraged to complete the necessary remaining tasks to receive a decision.
