NEW: COP Approves Three New Members

On October 5, the Council of Presidents unanimously approved three new member institutions for active membership beginning July 1, 2021.


Iowa Wesleyan and Louisiana College were also approved for immediate postseason reinstatement since they were both previously NAIA members.


NEW: NAIA Passes Name, Image and Likeness Legislation

The NAIA passed the first legislation of its kind in college sports to allow its student-athletes the opportunity to be compensated for use of their Name, Image and Likeness.

NEW: CCA Establishes Program Aimed at Positive Social Change and Equality

The Conference Commissioners Association (CCA) voted to establish the CCA R.I.S.E (Respect, Inclusivity, Support, Education) program, which will provide an avenue for NAIA membership to participate in training and programming aimed at influencing positive social change and equality in the association. The CCA will fund the initiative through a distribution from its annual Arbiter Funds allocation, allowing for the deployment of programming, development of resources, and establishment of relevant partnerships. 


NEW: ADA Hosts Virtual Town Halls

The Athletics Directors Association (ADA) Board of Directors met, discussing topics including the ongoing NAIA study surrounding regular season formats, decisions surrounding COVID, and the impact of recent NCAA transfer legislation on NAIA teams. The ADA Board hosted two virtual town halls to provide virtual professional development and discussion for all ADA members. These town halls covered on-campus COVID implications and operational solutions, and navigating race and social justice within athletics departments.

NEW: NAIA Mobile App Launches New Trivia Feature with Live Games Every Tuesday
The NAIA is rolling out a brand new trivia game, powered by Official Mobile App provider From Now On, in their mobile app to engage fans throughout the fall season. The quizzes will feature historical questions about the NAIA pulled from the recently launched ‘Through the Decades’ campaign. The weekly challenge will be available for fans to play each Friday and will remain active on the mobile app for the entire week. NEW: PlayNAIA Webinar on October 22

The NAIA Eligibility Center is hosting a webinar for new members, new campus staff and those wanting a refresher on the EC on Thursday, October 22, 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. (CT). Attendees will learn about PlayNAIA processes and navigating the website including: student registration, how to navigate student eligibility, using the NAIA Registrar Portal, and more. NEW: ACCRAO Webinar on COVID's Effect on International Higher Education

ACCRAO will host a webinar on Oct. 16 at 2 p.m. Central regarding how COVID has affected international higher education - from current enrollment impacts, visas, the impact on OPT/ CPT programs, to recruitment and admissions practices. The webinar will include a panel with representatives from Florida International University, Wake Forest University, Montgomery College, and the NAIA.

Winter Sports Announcement

The NAIA announced on September 22 that it plans to proceed with winter championships as currently scheduled. This includes not implementing start dates or restricting athletic activities during the holiday break. For the complete announcement, click here.
