NEW: Knight Commission Offering Challenge Grants

The Knight Commission on Intercollegiate Athletics is offering $100,000 in multi-year challenge grants to fund collaborative research that demonstrates how specific interventions impact the Black athlete experience and/or Black athlete advocacy areas.

NEW: FISU Forum Opportunity for Student-Athletes

The 2022 FISU Forum, which will take place April 8-12, 2022 in Cartago, Costa Rica, brings together over 120 students from around the world who are involved in the university sports movement. 

NACDA sponsors two student-athletes to attend this incredible event. The US-IUSF will review nominations and select two student-athletes to attend the forum next April. The nomination form can be found here and the deadline is October 1.
NEW: Requests for Student-Athlete Exceptions

The response time for a student-athlete exception request is currently two weeks from the time of receipt by Legislative Services. September is the peak time for these requests and national office staff is expediting decisions as quickly as possible. We appreciate your patience.

Please be sure to update your institutional NAIAHelp profiles before the academic year begins.

  • All ADs, registrars, FARs, and coaches must be accurate to certify eligibility.
  • SIDs must be entered correctly to receive critical information on the new Presto Stats system and how it affects the national statistical services.
  • All profiles now also require demographic information, which will help the NAIA establish benchmarks related to diversity, equity and inclusion.

NEW: Host Site Named for 2021 and 2022 Men's Soccer Championship

Decatur Morgan County Tourism has been selected to host both the 2021 and 2022 Men’s Soccer National Championships. The 63rd and 64th iterations of the tournament will be played at Jack Allen Soccer Complex in Decatur, Alabama with additional assistance by the Southern States Athletic Conference. Eligibility
NEW: Fall Cancellations Occur October 1

Beginning October 1, annual cancellations (previously referred to as inactivation) will begin for students with fall 2021 applications for fall sports. Cancellations will only affect students who are registered for fall sports and have taken no action in PlayNAIA since September 1.
NEW: EC by the Numbers

The following numbers reflect the eligibility center’s processing status as of September 7, 2021.
  • About 11,580 students are currently within the eligibility process*.
  • 39,262 students have begun registration for the 2021-22 academic year so far, 27,682 of whom have already received a decision.
*This includes students who have registered but not yet submitted their profiles, need to make payment, are in line for review and students whose reviews are currently underway.
 
For the past two weeks:
All (domestic and international) freshmen without a break.
  • We are issuing decisions for these students in an average of 0.33 business days from their ready date.
  • We are currently working on freshmen students without a break who became ready on 9/3/2021.
Domestic students with a break and transfers
  • We are issuing decisions for these students in an average of 9.00 business days from their ready date.
  • We are currently working on break/transfer students who became ready on 8/25/2021.
International students with a break and transfers
  • We are issuing decisions for these students in an average of 10.10 business days from their ready date.
  • We are currently working on international break/transfer students who became ready on 8/31/2021.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Needs Assessment Survey

In partnership with our diversity consultant, Stan Johnson & Associates, the NAIA has created a DEI Assessment to help us understand how the NAIA can more effectively support our members’ DEI efforts. Your input is extremely valuable as we plan future DEI initiatives. The deadline for survey submission is August 31.
