WELCOMING FR. ANDREW YOW THIS SUNDAY | OCTOBER 11

We are grateful to welcome The Rev. Andrew Yow as our guest preacher and celebrant this Sunday, October 11. Fr. Andrew serves as Priest Associate for Worship and Liturgical Life at the Church of the Redeemer in Sarasota, and we look forward to having him with us at St. John’s.

Fr. Chris remains away with his family following the death of his father, and Mother Caroline will also be out of state this weekend officiating a wedding. We are especially thankful to Fr. Andrew for stepping in during their absence.

Please join us in welcoming Fr. Andrew this Sunday, and continue to keep Fr. Chris and his family in your prayers.

ADULT FORMATION CONTINUES: MEMENTO MORI

Our Adult Formation series, Memento Mori: Death, Dying, and Rising, continues Sunday morning in the Parish Hall between the 9:30 and 11:15 services. Our own David Adams, a partner at Bush Ross whose legal practice includes estate planning, will lead a conversation about planning for the future, caring for our families, and faithful Christian stewardship. This is an important conversation for all of us, regardless of age or stage of life, and we are grateful to David for sharing his expertise. We hope you will make plans to join us!

NEWS & UPCOMING EVENTS

Welcome Lauryn Ortiz, Our New Communications Manager!

We are delighted to welcome Lauryn Ortiz to the St. John’s staff as our new Communications Manager!

Lauryn brings a background in marketing, communications, and event coordination, with experience in both the construction and hospitality industries. She is excited to become part of the St. John’s community and looks forward to getting to know our parishioners.

Please join us in giving Lauryn a warm welcome! If you see her around the church or Parish Office, be sure to stop by and introduce yourself. We're very glad to have her with us!

Meet the Organ with Simon Morley |Sunday, October 18 | Following the 11:15 a.m. Mass

Join our Organist and Director of Music, Simon Morley, for a behind-the-scenes introduction to St. John’s magnificent pipe organ! Simon will demonstrate how the organ works, share a little about its history, and explain what makes this remarkable instrument such an important part of our worship.

All are welcome, especially newcomers and anyone who has ever wondered what goes into producing the music we hear each Sunday. This is a wonderful opportunity to see (and hear!) the organ up close and learn from the person who knows it best.

Fall Festival |Sunday, October 25 | 3:00 p.m.

Our EYC is hosting a Fall Festival for our Children's Ministry on Sunday, October 25, at 3:00 p.m. in and around the Parish Hall! Join us for an afternoon of pumpkin painting, hayrides, apple bobbing, crafts, and other fall festivities. We're especially looking forward to welcoming our friends from Cornerstone Kids for the afternoon.

Youth volunteers are encouraged to help and can earn service hours. We're also collecting donations of supplies for the event. Please contact Ayana Grady if you'd like to volunteer, and visit the wish list linked below if you'd like to contribute.

We hope you'll bring the whole family and join us!

Email Scam Alert

Recently, fake emails claiming to be from Fr. Chris and other St. John’s staff have been sent to parishioners. These messages often ask for “help,” a “discreet request,” or unusual questions about parish directory information. They are scams. Please do not reply or click any links—simply mark the message as spam in your email program (such as Outlook or Gmail) and delete it. Remember that official St. John’s emails will always come from an @stjohnstampa.org or @stjohnseagles.org address. Because of the way email works—specifically the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) that underlies email—it is unfortunately impossible to completely prevent spoofed messages from being sent. For that reason, reporting them to the church does not help stop them. The best thing you can do is mark the message as spam in your email program and delete it. Thank you for helping us keep our parish community safe.
