Summer Send Off
The Summer Send Off is happening on Saturday, August 2nd at Heather Park. The event begins at 6:30 pm and is going to feature food, a bounce house obstacle course, activities, and a showing of The Sandlot at approximately 8:00 pm. The community is encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs to enjoy the movie!

Seal Beach Tennis and Pickleball Center
On Friday, July 25th the Seal Beach Pickleball Association, in partnership with the City of Seal Beach, painted the exterior wall of the small activity room dark green. This color matches the new look to the area and provides a cleaner viewpoint for tracking the ball when playing pickleball on these courts.

The Seal Beach Pickleball Association has started accepting donations for a memorial brick program to be installed at Seal Beach Tennis and Pickleball Center. Bricks can be purchased and installed at the facility as a lasting tribute. The bricked area will be an improvement to the facility that allows users to continue to share long-term memories. Bricks can be purchased through the QR code here.

Department Highlights
There are currently 2,074 users registered for the Senior Transportation Program. The program is available for Seal Beach residents ages 60 years and older and consists of a pre-fixed shuttle route and Yellow Cab Taxi service. To register for the program, please visit www.sealbeachca.gov or contact the Recreation and Community Services Department at (562) 431-2527 X 1307.
There are currently 383 pickleball members and 82 tennis members at the Seal Beach Tennis and Pickleball Center. To sign up for a membership, please contact staff at the Center, or call (562) 598-8624 for more information

Senior Lunch Café
The Seal Beach Lunch Program is provided by Meals on Wheels Orange County (OC), which is held at the North Seal Beach Community Center. The Dine-In Lunch Café takes place Monday - Friday from 11:00am- 12:00pm. The Dine-In Lunch Program is open to adults ages 60 and older, with a suggested donation for lunch is $3.00 per meal. | | Water & Sewer Rate Adjustment Public Hearing Continued to August 11, 2025 | |
On July 14, the Seal Beach City Council voted to continue the Water and Sewer Rate Adjustment Public Hearing to 7:00 p.m., Monday, August 11, 2025, in the City Council Chambers, 211 Eighth Street, Seal Beach. All interested parties are invited to attend the Public Hearing to give oral or written testimony, as well as written protests, up until the close of the Public Hearing.
If adopted by the City Council, the proposed rate adjustments will become effective on September 1, 2025, with annual rate adjustments on July 1 of each year from 2026 through 2029.

During a routine inspection, our Utilities crew found a residential ⅝‑inch water meter that needed replacement—and because it sat outside the City’s right‑of‑way, it had to be relocated.

Replaced Water Service on Electric Avenue: Old Meter Out, New Service In
While upgrading an antiquated three‑digit water meter on Electric Avenue, our Utilities crew discovered that the service line feeding it was badly corroded. Instead of a simple meter swap, they installed a brand‑new 1‑inch service line and connected it to a modern ¾‑inch meter.

Junior Lifeguard State Championships Recap
Last Friday, our Junior Lifeguard Competition Team represented us at the California JG State Championships, held at Dockweiler Beach in LA County. The team delivered some impressive performances! Official results and highlights will be announced at the upcoming Junior Lifeguard Banquet.
Final Day of the Program – Wednesday, August 6
Our final day of Junior Lifeguards is Wednesday, August 6. Participants will take part in "The Ultimate Junior Guard", a fun and challenging event that includes running and swimming the full length of the beach.
Later that evening, join us at 6:00 PM for the Junior Lifeguard Banquet. We’ll celebrate the season with burgers, a special video recap, and awards.
Fundraiser: Pier Jump with Your Junior Guard
Join us Friday, August 1 at 12:00 PM for a special fundraising event in support of Lifeguards Connor Lees and Isaiah Osorio. Parents will have a rare opportunity to jump off the pier alongside their Junior Guards—don’t miss this fun and meaningful experience!

Ready Rebound is a wellness and recovery company that provides mobile recovery services for first responders, athletes, and individuals seeking physical and mental rejuvenation. Their goal is to improve overall health, reduce stress, and speed up physical recovery using state-of-the-art therapeutic tools.

Sharp Performance is a company that specializes in human performance training, wellness, and resiliency programs tailored for tactical professionals, athletes, and corporate teams. Their mission is to optimize physical and mental performance through science-based training, education, and recovery strategies.
The goal of these programs is to help officers and police staff manage the high stress associated with the Police Department work.

Captain Nicholas, Lieutenant Clasby, Police Services Manager McDonald, and SCSO Castellanos attended the Southern California Resources Forum to meet with other parking industry leaders. The team engaged in discussions about best practices, emerging technologies, and legislative changes affecting parking enforcement and management. Their participation reflects the department’s ongoing commitment to professional development and regional collaboration in public safety-adjacent services.

PD met with HR to discuss upcoming recruitment efforts and hiring new professional staff members. The meeting focused on streamlining the recruitment timeline, developing outreach strategies to attract a diverse applicant pool, and emphasizing the vital role professional staff play in supporting departmental operations and public service delivery.

Facility Dog Yosa attended the Community Helpers Story Time at the Los Alamitos/Rossmoor Library to read to children and explain the role of facility dogs in policing. Yosa helped educate young attendees on how facility dogs provide emotional support to crime victims and assist officers in creating a calming environment. The event also served as a valuable community outreach opportunity, promoting positive police interaction with children and families.

Two License Plate Reader cameras were repaired on Lampson Avenue. These cameras, which assist in criminal investigations, were promptly serviced to ensure continued functionality. Their repair supports the department’s broader strategy of using technology to enhance community safety and operational efficiency.
