PORT PASSES GROUND BREAKING JOBS POLICY
The Port of Oakland recently approved a ground breaking jobs policy for the Seaport Logistics Complex (formerly the Oakland Army Base) which levels the playing field and provides local community members with priority access to jobs and opportunities on the project.

Thank you to the community leaders (notably the Revive Oakland and Oakland Works Coalition) and CenterPoint Properties who engaged in a collaborative multi-year planning process with the Port to develop the jobs policy.   Together, we demonstrated how large-scale development deals can offer shared benefit to our neighboring community, empower local residents and strengthen our economy.
Seaport of the Future - Ground Breaking Jobs Policy
Port of Oakland Commissioners approved the CenterPoint Properties’ plan to build a $52 million distribution and transload center on the former Oakland Army Base. It will become the first building in the Port’s Seaport Logistics Complex. The plan to build a Seaport Logistics Complex prioritizes employing workers from nearby neighborhoods.

The Seaport Logistics Complex Story
A long-held vision to revitalize this city’s decommissioned Army Base is nearer reality at the Port of Oakland. The Port is set to work with CenterPoint Properties and the community to develop a logistics complex at the former base. The upcoming development caps nearly 15 years of planning for the most-anticipated Port growth project ever.
