2023 Grants Awarded

The CUHSD Education Foundation is a non-profit organization devoted to enriching the educational experience of CUHSD students.

In addition to funding annual district-wide College Fairs and Career Expos and supporting on-campus Wellness Centers, the education foundation awards annual grants of up to $2,500 to students and teachers for projects that meet our vision of ensuring that all students are thriving, inspired, and prepared to embrace their futures.

We received many worthy project proposals this year and are grateful to everyone who applied. We are excited to announce that we will be funding the following projects:

Student Empathy Grants:

Branham - Diversity and Culture Mural

Various cultural clubs will collaborate to paint a large mural that celebrates the diverse cultural backgrounds of students at Branham.

Del Mar - Queer Arts Night

The Del Mar Sexuality and Gender Alliance Club and Theatre Department will put on a joint showcase spotlighting and honoring the artistic contributions of LGBTQ students at Del Mar.

Leigh - Ambition, Not Addiction

Leigh students will educate the Leigh student body about the dangers of opioid misuse, and they will train the student body in the use of Narcan to empower them to respond effectively in opioid emergency situations.

Prospect - Empathy through Stories

Prospect students will gather stories, anecdotes, and reflections from their peers that highlight the diverse cultures and common struggles of Prospect students. By sharing student stories, this project will bridge divisions within the student body and help build community school-wide.

Westmont - Wings of Hope

Westmont students will promote empathy and the inclusion of students with disabilities in school activities via sports and arts events, educational workshops, and a buddy program.

Teacher Inspiration Grants:

Boynton & Westmont - Successful Pathways

Students at Boynton and emergent multilingual students at Westmont will take part in the Successful Pathways program, which helps students make progress in their educational journey by enabling them to earn rewards for consistently engaging in practices that lead to academic success.

CACE - Let’s Go: Eduventures!

After lessons about fact-checking and critical thinking skills, Campbell Adult and Community Education students will put their new skills to use by taking a tour of the Winchester Mystery House, and then analyzing the accuracy of the information they learn on the tour.

Del Mar - Connecting with Games

After designing board games that explore French vocabulary and grammar intertwined with traditional French and African games, Del Mar World Languages students will deepen their understanding of languages, celebrate diversity, and create lasting memories by participating in a Game Day.

Leigh - Technical Writing with 3D Printer

Students will design and 3D print objects for class presentations and other school uses, and will write manuals, advertisements, flyers, or design schematics for the objects they have created, thereby connecting English, History, and Engineering lessons and increasing students' engagement in learning.

Prospect - The Green Ninja Project

Current Prospect students will create youth-oriented and humorous films about environmental topics that are grounded in science and data. The films will be screened for family, friends, and staff at an Earth Day themed film festival, and former students will be invited as the judges for the festival.
