Dear Friends and Members of Trinity Episcopal Church,
Our beloved window of Christ’s Ascension is now removed for long-needed restoration. This vision in stained glass – the vibrant blue, the light! - has been a focal point for prayer since this Church was built in 1870. We gaze at this work of art in all the seasons of our lives. This Window accompanies us in sorrow and in joy.
The Ascension: Jesus rises into Glory, and he blesses us to be his Body here on earth. We have been his Body, since 1732 – and we are going strong! Jesus empowers us to claim his ministry.
We look forward to the return of this Window to our Sanctuary soon – brighter, stronger, safer. It is an essential part of our gathering, our worship, our welcome.
On behalf of the Leadership of Trinity Episcopal Church, I invite you to prayerfully consider participating in this Window Restoration with your financial support. We will draw from a recent bequest for this $80,000 restoration - but your gifts will help preserve those funds for upcoming roof repair.
We are so grateful for the many ways you already sustain our discipleship and ministries. We are growing in faith, deepening in commitment to God, and to one another.
Please join me in making a contribution towards this important Restoration. Please note “Ascension Window Restoration” on your check, or use the QR code above for Vanco. Gifts of appreciated stock can be arranged in consultation with our Treasurer.
Jesus; our light, our inspiration. We give with a sense of abundance, with hearts filled with gratitude for all we receive in community.
Peace be with you,
Rev. Andrea Castner Wyatt, Rector

So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross till my trophies at last I lay down. I will cling to the old rugged cross and exchange it someday for a crown.
As we enter these final two weeks of Lent, our hearts and minds turn more toward the cross. This Sunday’s worship will reflect this, guiding us with music that will help us focus on Christ’s long and lonely journey to the cross. We will sing the old favorite from my Baptist and Pentecostal upbringing, The Old Rugged Cross, a timeless reminder of Christ’s sacrifice and our hope of redemption, and we will conclude our service with the triumphant hymn Lift High the Cross, a powerful hymn that calls us to bear witness to the cross in our daily lives, proclaiming the love of Christ to the world.
We are blessed to have Eric Knapp joining us this Sunday on the organ, bringing his artistry and sensitivity to our worship as we lift our voices in song together. Adding to the beauty of this week’s service, our soprano section leader Cristina Trnik will present the cherished Panis Angelicus during communion, offering a moment of reflection and reverence.
As we prepare for next week’s Palm/Passion Sunday and the sacred Holy Week after, may our worship this week center us in the truth of God’s love, leading us closer to that joyous day of resurrection.
In Christ,
Jennifer

The Mary Hawley Public Service Award was established to promote volunteerism by honoring an individual who, through lengthy and exceptional public service to Newtown, best represents the selfless commitment and spirit of Newtown’s beloved benefactress, Mary Elizabeth Hawley.
The recipient of the Mary Hawley Public Service Award will be recognized for their contributions to Newtown by having their name listed on a plaque at Edmond Town Hall, as well as receiving a personalized memento to commemorate the achievement. In addition, Newtown Savings Bank will donate $1,000 to a Newtown-based nonprofit of the recipient’s choosing.
The award serves two functions:
1. It will serve as an annual reminder to the Newtown community of the remarkable contributions that Mary Hawley made to Newtown. She alone is single-handedly responsible for much of Newtown’s treasured infrastructure — the library, town hall, Hawley School, Newtown Village Cemetery, the Soldiers and Sailor’s Monument. It is truly an astounding legacy that should be and now will be formally remembered every year.
2. The award will serve as a vehicle for promoting volunteerism by recognizing prolonged, outstanding individual commitment to selflessly serving the community and its citizens.
If you know anyone who you think deserves to be considered for this prestigious recognition, please submit a completed nomination form available online or pick up a hard copy nomination form at the following locations: C. H. Booth Library, Newtown Bee, Newtown Senior Center and Newtown Community Center, which will be available March 3, 2025. The nomination period will open on March 3, 2025 and close on May 2, 2025.
For questions or additional information please contact: Bronson Hawley at 203-209-4983 Maureen Crick Owen at 203-733-4562.
