Uplifting and Supporting
our Community
As we slowly and safely start to open back up, we are taking time to reflect on the past 15 months. We are extremely grateful for the generosity of our supporters – whether through financial resources, volunteer hours, or healthy food distribution. We are proud of the work our community has done to uplift and support each other.

This time also provided us an opportunity to build deeper relationships with many partners who worked together to ensure there was food to eat, plants to grow, and support for mental and emotional health. Our programs were able to keep moving forward due to collaboration, idea and resource sharing. We know the road to recover will be long, and the effects of the pandemic won’t soon be forgotten. We know these strong partnerships will continue to thrive as we work toward a healthier and more equitable community. Thank you to Scripps Howard Foundation for their support of diversity, food insecurity and healthy families programs.

Tip of the Month
Many people have transitioned to a work-from-home schedule over the past year.

Here are a few electric safety tips to implement:
  • Avoid overloading outlets and use a power strip.
  • Unplug appliances when you’re not using them to save energy and minimize the risk of shock or fire.
  • Regularly inspect electrical cords and extension cords for damage.
  • Extension cords should be used only on a temporary basis.
  • Make sure your home has smoke alarms. Test them monthly, change batteries annually and replace the alarm every 10 years
