Expanding Growing Capacity with San Diego Green Building Council
Friend,

Thanks to the San Diego Green Building Council (SDGBC), volunteers spent two weekends beautifying and improving the Olivewood property. By spreading mulch, removing old fence posts and pulling weeds, volunteers helped us begin on a much a larger project. Chosen as the SDGBC 2020 Legacy Project award site, Olivewood was able to work with helpful volunteers who designed a property plan including a water catchment system to recycle rainwater, a blueberry patch, shade structure, and a seating area with a mural. Next steps will be building raised garden beds, setting up irrigation, and more mulch spreading.

In addition to beautifying the space, this project will allow Olivewood the capacity to grow more food for our local community members. With improved access to garden beds and recycled water, we can safely feed and nourish hundreds of more families. THANK YOU, SDGBC volunteers and the architects who volunteered their time, talent, and resources to develop space for a more equitable food system.
Thank you, Frank Subaru for supporting the activity kits for Olivewood's virtual Generation 18 of Cooking for Salud®!

Generation 18 participants cook healthy meals from their homes each week. These future Kitchenistas are learning skills to transform their home kitchens, gaining confidence as health leaders in their communities, and creating nutritious meals for themselves and their families.
Congratulations: Kitchenistas For Public Office
