EXCITING ANNOUNCEMENTS! DO NOT MISS THIS EVENT! Mission Builders Tailgate: You are invited! A limited number of tickets are presently available on a first-come, first-served basis to our Crusader Luau-styled tailgate party that will be taking place before and during the Northwest Christian football game against St. Mary's High School on the Crusader home field on Friday, September 23rd. Happening on the Crusader Legacy Plaza, Hawaiian-infused barbeque will be served as we celebrate the announcement of our next major building project and how God has already generously, Providentially-provided for the completion of the cash-in-hand funding of that new building. We will be revealing, publicly for the first time, the architectural renderings of the building, revealing the date for the ground-breaking ceremony, and making some exciting announcements regarding Northwest Christian's next two phases in the Build Here, Build There campaign as well their timelines. (See example as "tease" below!)

There will be one other memorable aspect of the event that evening. Each attendee will be given exclusive, up-close sideline access to watch the exciting 4A clash-of-the-titans for one quarter of the game. Be sure to click here and buy your tickets before the event sells-out!
New buildings, same strategy. During the Mission Builders Tailgate event on Friday, September 23rd, the school will be rolling out plans for the next few phases in building construction and campus improvements. But, while the plans will be new and exciting, the strategy that finally brought us to this moment is not. "Patience," explains NCS superintendent Geoff Brown, "has been the key to Northwest Christian's affordability, sustainability, and all of our building efforts. We are one of very few schools in Arizona that operate with a black budget before fundraising. This means that our fundraising is entirely focused on improving the student experience. Further, when you review the tuition comparisons of other private schools, you find that many of the schools--most of which are already more expensive than NCS--charge their families with incremental fees like 'building fees', 'commitment fees', 'new family fees' in addition to tuition. Although it has meant patience, Northwest Christian has done none of that. Though patience, we believe that God provides, the school remains affordable, and the campus continuously improves. As we announce our next few buildings on campus, and announce our next ground-breaking, I am very excited for our families to see the fruit of their patience during the Mission Builders Tailgate on Friday, September 23rd."
During a season in which schools across the U.S. are in panic mode about Covid-driven "learning loss" and realizing that school shut-downs produced the largest drop in national standardized test scores in over three decades, Northwest Christian is celebrating academic gains for Crusaders across the board. In addition to the growth already reported within Northwest Christian's elementary this past spring, the school's newly reported composite ACT scores (see graph above) are cause for celebration. "The story here isn't the delta between NCS seniors and the state and national composites," explains Andrew Coley. "Rather, it is the fact that we are one of very, very few high schools in the state that requires the ACT to be taken by all juniors. Typically, the ACT is a self-select situation and due to changing college admissions standards, fewer and fewer students are taking it. The fact that our composite scores are so strong--coupled with the realization that this composite does not leave out a single Crusader--is absolutely amazing."
Rolling out the green carpet. A small group of kindergartners happened to be at lunch adjacent to the turf field being installed on the south end of campus when the installers began rolling out the first of the green turf--a little cheer erupted from the group. As this next week rolls out, even more green turf will be rolled out as the turf project nears completion--a date now slated for September 26th. But, as this project comes to an end, our next ground-breaking will be less than 120 days out as the school begins moving forward on its largest new building project in decades. To be a part of that pending announcement, be sure to make plans to attend the Mission Builders Tailgate on Friday, September 23rd.
A high-achieving Early Ed Assistant Director. These have been busy days for Northwest Christian's Assistant Early Education Director, Bree Tarbutton. Already a RN and a speech therapist, Bree was recently recognized by Arizona State University for adding a MA in Early Education to her growing list of credentials...all while being a busy wife and mom and serving administratively in the state's first five-star Quality First preschool. The Sweet Taste of God's word. This month, Mr. Brown used a memorable activity during elementary chapel to launch the annual Red Letter Challenge for Fall 2022. Oreo cookies were placed all over an upright piece of plexiglass that was then rolled out in front of six-hundred elementary-aged students. Elementary principal Dawna Underwood was joined by Mr. G and two lucky/unlucky students as they were charged with removing as many Oreos as possible from the plexiglass--using only their mouths! The stunt served as an illustration of Psalm 119:103: "How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!" To participate in the Red Letter Challenge, please click here.
The Sutton Project annual kick-off is here! For over a decade, Crusaders have poured themselves--time, talent, and treasure--into the Isaac School District, arguably the most challenging district in the state of Arizona. This crusade has included thanksgiving meals, Christmas gifts, tutoring, sports clinics, service projects, and so much more. In the coming week, we will be starting to roll out the first stages of "The Sutton Project" for the 2022/2023 school year--a year in which, because of inflationary pressures and cultural chaos--these public school families need Jesus and Northwest Christian more than any year before. To better understand what the initial phases of the 2022/2023 Sutton Project will look like, please click here or on the video image above.
A huge win for parental choice and educational freedom. Phoenix Christian Preparatory served as the perfect backdrop in August for Governor Doug Ducey's ceremonial signing of House Bill 2853 which expanded Arizona's ESA, the Empowerment Scholarship Program, to all 1.1 million K-12 students in Arizona. The bill's sponsor, Arizona state representative Ben Toma (pictured above with Northwest Christian's Geoff Brown and Phoenix Christian's Jeff Blake). Crusader Archery. This fall saw the launch of a brand new Northwest Christian team: co-ed archery. The inaugural group of Crusader archers enjoys weekly practice as they prepare for their first tournament in December.
What is NCS Flex? This fall, as Northwest Christian School's Online Campus launches its newly completed Middle School program, the school is excited to introduce NCS Flex to the Crusader community. "We are approaching a time in education in which on-the-ground and online education models will become so blended, they will become virtually indistinguishable," explains NCS Superintendent Geoff Brown. "Driven by exciting partnerships with both universities like Grand Canyon University and ministry partners like YoungLife, the Colson Center for Christian Worldview, and others, convenience, a deepening understanding of the diverse ways in which students learn, and a burgeoning boom in technology within varied learning platforms, we are able to see blended learning transform and enhance each of the school's forums for learning. For our traditional, on-the-ground students, NCS Plus will enable an online extension of the traditional classroom. For students within public school, charter schools, home school, other Christian schools, or even our own school, Frameworks also for dynamic Biblical worldview courses. For our online students--and we're preparing for a school year in which we will see well over one hundred students learning online through NCS options--NCS Flex is an opportunity for online students to enjoy on-ground opportunities."
