A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
|
|
Good day fellow colleagues!
I trust this message finds you all well.
As the executive team and I are working on the strategic plan, it brings to light to me how important it is to have a shared vision, mission, and goals for our association. Sometimes, when one hears the oft used words, like vision, mission and goals, it causes one’s eyes to roll back in the head, reminiscent of teenage years during conversations with parents. Much like then, there could be a tendency to tune out and not fully participate in the discussion. The consequences of such non-participation can lead to discontent and frustration.
Well-functioning organizations set common goals to concentrate energy and resources on tasks that benefit and support a common vision held by its members. The organization should revisit these goals periodically to affirm their continued support. Members can think strategically, and higher levels of trust are achieved because they are working toward the same vision and goals. This is the goal of the current effort with the strategic plan -- to clarify our goals, get them written down, and move forward with trust and clarity.
As the strategic plan is shared, I hope you will participate in assuring that the vision, mission, and goals created there can become the foundation for efforts to move forward as an association.
Thank you all for your continued support and efforts to further our association.
Annette Hovorka
President

NGS NEWS - CORS ITRF2014 COORINATES
|
NGS has started to release its NOAA CORS Network ITRF2014 epoch 2010.00 and NAD83 (2011) epoch 2010.00 coordinates, referred to as
Multi-Year CORS Solution 2 (MYCS2)
. As a reminder, NGS has reprocessed all NOAA CORS Network and some IGS stations using data collected between 1/1/1996 and 1/30/2017.
Release Notes:
- The MYCS2 NAD 83 (2011) epoch 2010.00 coordinates are now available in NGS Datasheets and related products.
- The new coordinates are also available in output from the NGS Data Explorer, archived shapefiles, and output from DSWorld.
- Previous CORS coordinates are listed on the datasheets as superseded coordinates.
All MYCS2 NAD 83 (2011) epoch 2010.00 coordinates and velocities will be integrated into all CORS and OPUS products in the next four to eight weeks.
Related Product Release: GEOID18
NGS is planning to fully release the MYCS2 NAD83 coordinates and velocities coincident with the final GEOID18 model. Feedback is still being accepted for
BETA GEOID18
.
The coincident release of MYCS2 NAD83 coordinates and GEOID18 will minimize the changes to NGS’ OPUS products.
