DEAR DIRECTOR'S CIRCLE FRIENDS,
Jefferson Center (JC) started 2022 stronger than ever!  JC Presents returned to a full schedule of performances with many sold-out shows.  Student participation in the Harry and Lavon Webb Youth Enrichment and Arts Education Center has expanded to include onsite, in-person instruction, and community outreach at many schools and youth organizations. Partner organization shows have been back to a regular schedule with the community stages in use most weekends and many weekdays.  We have continued to increase event rentals and are providing many community and business groups with full-scale event planning services.

The future feels much more confident for the live performance sector than it did a year ago.  As we look toward next year and the planning of another season of inspirational performances, we are at a pivotal moment in time.  JC is fully immersed in a comprehensive strategic planning process that will guide our thinking and direction for the next five years.  Our goal is to have this plan ready to present to our board for approval this summer.  I look forward to sharing it with you afterwards as one of our most valued stakeholders.  Your thoughts and participation will be critical as we work to advance the performing arts through enriching cultural experiences and community engagement.

We could not do our work at the magnitude that we do without you.  Your belief in what we do and continued generosity prepared us for the strong return we are experiencing.  Thank you for helping us to fulfill our mission of bringing unparalleled transformative arts and cultural experiences to the Roanoke Valley.

As I consider the promise and thrill of the 2022-23 season, I want you to be among the first to know about some of the amazing artists we are booking for next year and other updates about our programs.

Your gifts have spread much joy through the support of dynamic music and music education.  Thank you for making it all possible.
Cheers!

EDUCATION SPOTLIGHT
Your gifts support the Harry and Lavon Webb Youth Enrichment and Arts Education Center, which includes Music Lab, Residencies and Masterclasses, Jazz Institute, and Student Outreach Performances. A new community outreach initiative called Outreach Out Loud was added this fiscal year and includes new partnerships with Boys and Girls Club and West End Center where we are in their classrooms weekly with lesson plans, instruction, and experiential learning. This program is currently offered at no charge to the organization or the students, and it is our commitment to keep it that way. We are also looking for ways to expand this program next fiscal year.

To give you a sense of the amazing interactions and learning that takes place in the Music Lab space, please take a peek at this video montage that captures the essence of the program in action.  Your gifts help us keep this program affordable and accessible to all interested children!
DEVELOPMENT UPDATE
Thank you for keeping Jefferson Center a charitable priority during unprecedented times.

We have been fortunate to have so many Director’s Circle members attending our concerts this spring.  Below are a few photos from the recent Wynton Marsalis and Jazz at Lincoln Center evening.  It was a night to remember!

On behalf of the board and staff at Jefferson Center, thank you for your continued generosity as a Director's Circle donor.  Your giving accounts for 70 percent of donations and makes a real difference in Jefferson Center’s ability to continue attracting top Grammy award-winning artists to our area, while also continuing to meet our mission of keeping quality arts and educational experiences meaningful and accessible to many in our community.

If you know someone who loves the performing arts and who would be interested in learning more about Jefferson Center and what we do, please feel free to forward them this eblast.  You can pass along their contact information if you would like or have them reach out to us directly.  We would welcome the opportunity to meet with them, give them a tour, and/or have them be our guests to a show.  My contact information is kturner@jeffcenter.org or 540.685.2312, and I am happy to facilitate an introduction!

Thank you for your help and for your continued investment in the advancement of arts and culture in Roanoke, specifically at Jefferson Center!

Best Regards,
