The Sunday after the Ascension
of Our Lord Jesus Christ
Dear Friends,

As we continue to journey with our Resurrected Lord, the Apostles, and Disciples from Easter to Pentecost, we are exploring the reality of the Sacrament of Holy Baptism.

We are reminded that the early church was said to be marked by three essential characteristics: Community (koinonia), Worship (leiturgia) and Service (diakonia).

In the Sermon today, we will reflect on the priority of Service. What does it mean to live "between times?" How do we learn to let go of the past, prepare for the future, but live in the present?

Please do remember that our Bible Study continues on Monday, at 10:00 a.m., in the Fellowship Hall. We hope that you will join us!

The Collect for
the Seventh Sunday of Easter

O God, the King of glory, you have exalted your only Son
Jesus Christ with great triumph to your kingdom in heaven:
Do not leave us comfortless, but send us your Holy Spirit
to strengthen us, and exalt us to that place
where our Savior Christ has gone before;
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, in glory everlasting. Amen.

A NOVENA TO THE HOLY SPIRIT
to be prayed each day from the
Ascension of Our Lord Jesus Christ to the Day of Pentecost

Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful
and kindle in them the fire of your love.
Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created.
And You shall renew the face of the earth.

O, God, who by the light of the Holy Spirit,
did instruct the hearts of the faithful,
grant that by the same Holy Spirit
we may be truly wise and ever enjoy His consolations,
Through Christ Our Lord, Amen.

The altar flowers are donated to the greater glory of God,
and were harvested from our grounds at the church.

We have been invited to attend the Rogation Service at our mother church, Bangor Church, this afternoon at 4:00 p.m. For more information, please see the flyer below.
The Diocese of Bethlehem held the annual Convocation--#Gather 23 at the Split Rock Convention Center in the Poconos Yesterday. It featured amazing presentations by Dr. Lisa Kimball and the Rev. Dr. Patricia Lyons, from Virginia Theological Seminary. The presentations challenged us to move from reciting our Baptismal Covenant to living it out through specific action plans. Of special note was the invitation to be mindful of those who are suffering from the "Pandemic of Loneliness" which is impacting our nation and our world.
The Collect for Saint Thomas the Apostle

Ever living God, who strengthened your Apostle, Thomas,
with firm and certain faith in your Son’s resurrection:
Grant us so perfectly, and without doubt, to believe
in Jesus Christ, our Lord and our God,
that our faith may never be found wanting in your sight;
through him who lives and reigns with you
and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
