St.Patrick's Endowment Fund
|
|
The Mission of St. Patrick's Endowment Fund is to provide parishioners with the opportunity to create a legacy by giving St. Patrick's church an enhanced financial capacity for long term ministry.
Two Types of Giving
Stewardship giving is redundant. We are God’s kids and we joyfully respond to our gifted lives by taking care of what’s been given to us. We give back some of our time, talent and treasure. We act out of gratitude, but as we mature as God’s Co-creators, we happily give, because keeping more than we need makes less and less sense.
Legacy giving is very different. Legacies are propositions to create something(s) that are active, powerful and growing, long after we leave this world.
St. Luke’s established their endowment fund in the early 1930’s, at the height of the Great Depression. Their founders, in a very financially stressed time, saw the wisdom of creating something that would benefit Christ’s Kingdom, long after they were gone.
Today their endowment net worth is in the low 8 figures and they are drawing on it annually without ever touching the principal, even as it continues to grow with ever increasing participation. In 2018, they were able to support ministries and capital improvements with over $600,000.00.
That is what you and I are creating now at St. Patrick’s. Our new endowment fund already has 18 “Sowers” and has already generated growing financial muscle that allows us to put close to $10,000.00 into ministries and improvements this year.
If this concept quickens you like it did me, please talk to one of us on the endowment board and we can help you get involved. We have literature available around the church and you can count on a presence that will be FOREVER increasing!
