George H. "Skip" Roberts, Jr. Joins Lenhart Pettit

Lenhart Pettit is pleased to announce that George H. "Skip" Roberts, Jr. joined our firm on November 1, 2016. Skip began his practice in Harrisonburg in 1971 and has enjoined a widely diverse legal and executive career in the ensuing 45 years.
Over the years he has represented some of the Valley's largest businesses, financial institutions and successful families. From 1991-1998 he was the Executive Vice President and General Counsel of the VMI Foundation, running one of the largest college endowments in Virginia as well as helping to guide VMI through the litigation over its all-male admissions policy. Subsequently he has practiced in Richmond as well as serving as the Managing Director and General Counsel of Ivor & Co., LLC,  a New York based family investment firm overseeing the business, legal, charitable, investment and tax affairs of a leading Wall Street investment banker and private equity firm founder.
Skip's extensive nonprofit experience also includes acting as the Interim President (CEO) of the George C. Marshall Foundation from November 2013 to May 2014. He has been the President of the Stonewall Jackson Foundation and currently is a member and Chairman of the board of VMI Investment Holdings, LLC, the investment manager for the Virginia Military Institute's endowments overseeing approximately $400,000,000 in assets, constituting one of the largest endowments per student of any public university in America.
His service to the Bar has also been exemplary. He has been a member of the Executive Committee of the Virginia Bar Association and a board member and President of the Virginia Law Foundation.
He will continue his practice focusing on high net worth individuals, estate planning, nonprofit entities, and corporate and business matters.
David Pettit, Chairman of the Firm said- "Skip has had a remarkable career with an unusually broad range of legal, business and investment experience. He will certainly add a great deal to the breadth of our business, tax and estate planning group. We are delighted to have him join us".

Associate Instructor of Technical Studies
From: Lord Fairfax Community College

This position will provide leadership for the applied trades and manufacturing certificates and programs in the Division of Business, Education, and Technology. Specific duties include coordinating various existing trades programs such as Electrical, HVAC, and Welding.  The position, in collaboration with engineering faculty, will also lead the development of new courses and programs relevant to a multi-craft/manufacturing technician program.   This instructor will coordinate high school "Trades Academy" programs and will lead the development of a trades academy for the Luray-Page County center location. This position may teach at off-site locations within the LFCC service region.  Fostering relationships with business and industry leaders, secondary partners, and the offices of Workforce Solutions and Continuing Education (WSCE) is important for the position.
