Slate of Candidates | Spring 2017 Election | Class 1

Once a year, SVTC members vote on who will join its board of directors for a 2 - year term in one of its two classes. On June 30, 2017, the term for our class 1 of directors expires. This May we are conducting the annual election for class 1, whose term will start on July 1, 2017. In March and April, SVTC members contributed suggestions to a slate of candidates which was then approved by the board of directors. The election takes place online as well as in - person, and finishes up at the Annual Meeting on May 25, 2017 at the Wood Grill. SVTC members were emailed their unique ballot links last week. (If you are a member and did not receive your email, please let us know.)

Luncheon speaker and topic: Patrick McQuown will give an update on  JMU's Center for Entrepreneurshipdetails for a new JMU summer accelerator program for students and the ventures they are pursuing this summer, and how the Valley's 'tech users and creators' community can connect with the Center.

Patrick joined JMU's College of Business as executive director for the CfE in January -- he is a pioneer of the mobile services and online media industry and started his first company, Proteus, in 1996, working out of his dorm room at The George Washington University.  More about his subsequent endeavors and bike riding passion

Job Opening: Senior Network Engineer
Blue Ridge Community College | Weyers Cave

Blue Ridge Community College is looking for a mission driven network engineer to support the  BRCC  Enterprise-wide Area Network. The chief objective of this position is to provide technical expertise for managing  the  BRCC   LAN  and  WAN  networks. Management of the network includes all the components rel evant to a converged data, voice and  video Network and includes routers, gateways, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VoIP call managers, video bridges, scheduling systems and wireless. This position is responsible for the "hand-on" design, deployment and troubleshooting of the various components of the network. The  BRCC  network infrastructure supports the Student, Faculty, and Staff with two remote locations.

Computer Network Specialist

Massanutten Technical Center

Oversees the operation of the MTC local area network, and connection to the RCPS Central office. Responsibilities  include installing, testing and performing routine maintenance on  Microsoft  servers,  as well as administration of the MTCVA.com google apps domain  and all local area network equipment. Identifies and solves problems related to  computer network technology and to communicate with users, manufacturers, and vendors concerning networking, hardware, or software issues. Oversees all audio / visual systems on the campus. Installs and maintains all classroom and conference room video projectors, document cameras, DVD video players.
