Pastor's Column

Ash Wednesday arrived yesterday as Lent began with imposing ashes and remembering God’s love. As we hear the words, "from dust you have come and to dust you shall return," we remember the God who creates us, follow us all the days of our lives, and then greets us at our death. God’s love not only claims us, but also lays the foundation for our relationships with each other. During Lent, our "Lenten Love" preaching series will reflect on God’s love for us and how we love each other. We will be exploring biblical stories to highlight different aspects of love. As you might expect, the biblical stories are not always fairy-tale stories of love, but sometimes complicated and challenging. As we move through these stories, we also will put together a puzzle in worship that highlights the various aspects of love. Each week, a piece will be added until we complete the puzzle on Easter morning. If you would like to have a puzzle at home, you can pick one up in the Narthex (children’s ministry has one set aside for each family of young children). As we move from Ash Wednesday to Easter, I hope you will find time to reflect on the love you share with others and the love God has for you.

Yours in Christ,

Richard

Diaconate Congregational Caregiving Ministries

Prayer Ministry

Are you, a family member, or friend in need of prayers? You may have called our pastors or the church office for your prayer need to be included on the list of prayer concerns in the Sunday Bulletin. In addition, the Congregational Caregiving Ministries of the Diaconate has Prayer Teams made up of members of the congregation, including Stephen’s Ministers and Deacons who pray for those who request prayers. Beginning this Sunday, there will be prayer requests forms in the pews as well as in the Prayer Room, near the Oak Street entrance. These requests are private and can be placed in the offering plate which will be transferred to the prayer box in the Prayer room. You can also contact Ronda Skelton at [email protected] or 817-980-7090 about your prayer concern, or if you are interested in becoming a member of one of the prayer teams.

We are very blessed with the faithful service of our prayer teams to the prayer life of St. Andrew and for showering our congregation and those we love with prayers. As you have an opportunity, thank these members of the prayer teams and their leaders.
