The Short Vort
Good Morning!
Today is Erev Shabbos Shira 5782, and January 14, 2022
White Yerushalayim
What could be better than waking up in the world and seeing Yerushalayim covered with a layer of beautiful white snow?
Hashem is telling us, “Your sins are forgiven; Shabbos is here!!”
What could be better?
I wake up at 5 AM in the holiest city in the world, I daven at sunrise, and I am ready to embrace the beautiful day Hashem has created!
I love Yerushayaim, and I love Shabbos; what could be better?
It is raining today in Yerushalayim. However, the rain here is different than the rain anywhere else in the world. The rainfall here is Gishmei Brocha!!!!!!
I love it!
I love it!
Hashem is washing the city of Yerushalayim for Shabbos!!
Even Yerushalayim needs to be squeaky clean on Shabbos!
I am not a big coffee drinker, however, when I was offered a Latte (whatever that is), I said, “YES!”-
To drink a latte in Yerushalayim is special!
Miriam sang the song of thanks to Hashem.
She could have just joined with Moshe in his song with the men.
No! Miriam realized the women need their own unique expression of a song to Hashem.
That’s a lesson for all of us.
Don’t rely on someone elses’ “Thank you.”
In Modim, the Chazzan cannot say thank you for us; we all must say our very own thank you.
This was the lesson that Miriram was teaching us.
Every man and woman has their very own “thank you” to give Hashem!
Your thank you is unique to you, and mine is amazing to me!
Thank you, Hashem, for giving me a Zechus that even Moshe Rabbeinu never had.
I am about to spend Shabbos with YOU in YOUR palace!!
How can I not be filled with thanks, love, and gratitude to you!
Soon the sights and smells of Erev Shabbos will fill the air!
The aroma of shoe polish as thousands of men and boys will shine their shoes for Shabbos.
The sounds of parents cajoling their children to shower before the hot water disappears will soon be heard.
And most of all, the peaceful tranquility which fills the air and permeates every nook and cranny of this unique city will soon descend from above and envelope my Yerushalayim.
Thank you, Hashem, thank you.
You have been more benevolent to me than I could ever have imagined.
Thank you, Hashem, and Good Shabbos!
