A Message from the Director of Development

Mrs. Samara Sofian, Director of Development

Do you want to enrich the lives of children in our community?
Do you pay at least $1,000 in Pennsylvania state taxes?
Did you know that through the EITC program you can allocate your Pennsylvania state taxes to The Silver Academy and/or The Brenner Family Early Learning Center and receive a 90% tax credit as an individual or business? Those dollars convert to scholarships for children!
If you answered yes to these questions, please contact me at
ssofian@silveracademypa.org
or 717-238-8775 x209 to learn about how you can participate in the Education Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program.
Thanks to the hard work of many wonderful volunteers, and the dedication of our generous community members, The Silver Academy is well on the way to fully fund our scholarship program through the EITC program. This enables us to provide scholarship funds to every family, and every student, who needs financial assistance to attend The Silver Academy.
If you are already participating in the EITC program, thank you for investment in our students.
If you aren’t yet participating, please consider doing so today!

Kindergarten General Studies

During the icy long winter months, Kindergarten students wrote their own individual stories about adorable imaginary creatures who live way up in the clouds in a town called Beanieburg. The stories were published in book form and went home to be shared with family members.
Now that it’s spring, it’s time for a new creative writing project. Every student has picked an elf, fairy, or other magical creature and is writing a good story with an opening sentence, interesting details, a big problem, and a happy ending.
Students invented alluring settings such as Enchanted Falls, Fun Forest, and Fairy Garden. These new Kid Writing stories will be published in poster form. Look for them soon on our hallway bulletin board.

The seventh and eighth grades attended Open Stage of Harrisburg's matinee presentation of "The Diary of Anne Frank" at the Scottish Rite. Here is what they had to say about the performance:
"It showed how horrible the Holocaust was. They were in hiding, but even then it was still hard and sad."~ Uriel
"It gave life to the people. It made them more than just people from history. They became people you could relate to." ~Elez
"The realism of the actors' reactions during the play made it easier to understand what that time period would have been like." ~Ben
