Dispatch from the CEO

Connecting Job Seekers and Employers

On August 6, we were pleased to have 200 job seekers visit our new space to connect with over 40 employers and community resources. This turnout underscores the need for connection opportunities. One of the things that excites us most about our new space is the possibilities it presents to bring together employers and job seekers in meaningful ways.

This was just the first of many opportunities for connection in our new building. We hope that job seekers, employers and community partners alike look forward to future events. Watch this video to meet two of the employers in attendance and hear what they think about opportunities for connection like this.

What's Working

Brownfields Remediation Contractor Roundtable

Earlier this month, we participated in a Brownfields Remediation Contractor Roundtable, which brought together employers and partners to help shape a stronger regional career pathway strategy for environmental remediation jobs. Our Manager of Employer Solutions Ian Marks facilitated a discussion with representatives from the Cuyahoga County Solid Waste District, Rid-All Green Partnership, Manufacturing Works, the City of Cleveland, industry employers, and consultants.

The conversation surfaced real opportunities around entry-level remediation careers, HAZWOPER and other credentials, hands-on training, environmental technician pathways, involvement with the Built Environment Collaborative, and stronger connections between employers and emerging talent.
