The Skokie Home Scoop - May 19, 2017

Dear Skokie Families,

Somehow we've gone from late spring to late fall in twenty four hours!  The chilly weather is not what we hope for in late May, but is appreciated in keeping our classrooms cool.  This is the time of year when excitement for the end-of-year activities and the coming summer add to the energy in the building.  We are nearing the end of our school year, with just three weeks left, and still a number of great Skokie traditions yet to take place.  We are excited to be welcoming our incoming fifth graders at next Friday's Shadow Day.  Keep in mind that next Friday is a half day of attendance with dismissal at 11:50am.

This year's Arts Nite will take on a slightly different format: ARTS NITE EXPRESS is an event for all 5th graders to share a glimpse of their Arts experiences at Skokie School with their parents.  Each student is scheduled to participate with, and lead his or her parents through a 25-minute mini-arts class experience only. See below for the complete schedule. Finally, as a gift from the school to our current 5th and 6th graders, all students and staff will receive a year-end t-shirt and autograph book complete with class pictures in lieu of charging for a traditional yearbook. Both will be distributed at Field Day for students to wear and sign that afternoon. We look forward to a great day together, and send out an advanced thank you to the parents who generously donate their time to make sure our day goes off with supervision and support! Stay warm and dry this weekend, and enjoy the time together with your families.

Most Sincerely,

Kelly Tess

Tech Corner
Students at Skokie are do research to learn more about technology in the past and how it has helped us get to where we are today.  A current 5th grader has taken on creating The Skokie Vintage Technology Museum - a place to see and learn about old technology.  Take a look at some of the pictures below.
If you have any cool older tech that you would like to donate to the Skokie Vintage Technology Museum please drop it at the front desk.  Thanks!
