Off to the Dragon Boat Races

Saturday, September 23, saw the return of Peachtree City's 16th annual Dragon Boat Festival at Drake Field.


The event, sponsored by the Peachtree City Rotary Club, saw nearly 60 groups sprint across Lake Peachtree in dragon boats; canoe-like vessels fitted with ornately carved dragon’s heads and tails.


Teams composed of at least 11 members, 10 paddlers and one designated drummer, whose rhythmic beats set the pace for the crew, raced approximately 250 meters on the lake’s shimmering waters.


The Dragon Boat Festival is a celebration of community and culture. The event featured a variety of food vendors, live entertainment, and activities for kids of all ages.

Pumpkins for a Cause: Help Support the Peachtree City Fire Department's Annual Pumpkin Sale

Halloween is right around the corner, and we know what that means. It's time to buy pumpkins.


The Peachtree City Fire Department has a bumper crop of the orange fruit on sale. Pumpkin sizes range from petite to jumbo. Proceeds from the annual event help the fire department fund training and purchase equipment for our first responders.


The pumpkin sale is located at station 81, 110 Paschall Road, Peachtree City, Georgia, 30269.

On September 26, 2023, the office of the City Clerk received an inquiry from a local columnist regarding an upcoming news article pertaining to the Declaration of Intent to receive Campaign Contributions submitted by candidate Mr. Victor Painter for Post 2.

Peachtree City Awarded Safety Grant

Peachtree City has been awarded two $10,000 safety grants from the Georgia Municipal Association's (GMA) Safety and Liability Management Grant Program.


GMA established the program to help members improve employee safety and reduce public liability. The program provides financial assistance for the purchase of training, equipment, or services.

Municipal Cout Wins Clearance Rate Excellence Award

Last week, the Peachtree City Municipal Court was awarded the Clearance Rate Excellence Award by the Judicial Council of Georgia.


This prestigious award recognizes the top 10% of courts in each class that demonstrate exceptional performance in maintaining clearance rates, a key indicator of a court's ability to effectively manage its caseload.

Planning Commission Meeting

Multi-Use Path System Detour at North Peachtree Parkway at the entrance to the Kedron Boat Docks

Starting Monday, October 2nd, crews will be working on the multi-use path at North Peachtree Parkway and the entrance to the Lake Kedron boat docks.


Construction will run from 8AM to 5PM until Friday, October 20th.  


Construction workers and flaggers will be out to help golf carts and pedestrians use the detour path across the street. 


Outside of the listed times, path users may travel over the gravel bed of the new path location and use the crossing as normal. Please see the recommended detour below:

Peachtree City's Financial Services Department Shows Strong Performance in Q2

The Peachtree City Financial Services Department had a strong second quarter, with highlights including:


  • 852 new golf carts registered by residents and 136 new golf carts registered by non-residents
  • 55 new businesses opening
  • $44.5 million of general fund revenue collected against a budget of $47.7 million
  • General fund expenses of $32.6 million against a $47.7 million budget


The city's revenue is on track to meet its budget for the year, and its expenses are below budget. The city is also investing in its future by opening new businesses and registering new golf carts.


This is a sign that the Peachtree City economy is healthy and growing.
