November News & Updates

That's a Wrap!

Thank you for making the 2025 Solar Summit a Success!

Thank you for all who attended, volunteered, presented, and sponsored. The Solar Summit truly is a community effort.

Twenty years of coming together to advance Washington’s solar industry is something we can all be proud of. This year’s Summit, held on October 24 at South Seattle College’s main campus in the Brockey Student Center, brought together more than 230 solar professionals and enthusiasts from across the state.

A special thank-you to our partners — the Puget Sound Electrical Apprenticeship Program, IBEW Local 46, and the Puget Sound Chapter of NECA — for their support in making this event possible.

We received excellent feedback on both the variety of topics and the diversity of voices represented. Presenters included national industry experts, Washington’s leading installers, utility representatives, and leaders from several tribal entities. All six sessions and our keynote address were well received, with especially strong enthusiasm for the panels on dual-use solar and community solar adoption. Post-event survey responses reflected a 4.25 out of 5 satisfaction rating.

Planning for the 2026 Solar Summit is already underway, and we’d love for members to get involved. If you’re interested in joining our Summit Planning Committee or another Solar Washington committee, please email info@solarwa.org.

We’ve created this blog to share follow-up information and extend the learning for those who couldn’t attend. Check back regularly for session summaries, video recordings, and downloadable presentation materials.

Unlocking Solar for Washington: Direct Pay Tax Credits & CETCAP, Case Studies, and Financing Pathways

Friday, November 21, 12pm on Zoom

This webinar will provide a practical overview of key opportunities for solar developers to advance clean energy projects in Washington. S2 Strategies will kick things off with an update on the WA Commerce CETCAP Program, which helps non-tax paying entities take advantage of clean energy tax credits that can recoup up to 70% of project costs.

This overview will include how upcoming foreign entity rules may affect projects. Undaunted K-12 will then share a case study—highlighting lessons learned from a school that utilized these tac credits to build their project—followed by an update from Washington’s Green Bank on emerging alternative financing mechanisms available to districts.
