Symetra Steps In
In June 2018, Symetra made a gift of $100,000 to The Sophia Way, enabling us to keep our emergency shelter open from June to September.

Also, on July 5, KING 5's Vanessa Misciagna published a report on our Emergency Shelter and Symetra's donation.

From Uncertainty To Security!
The most gratifying moment for us at The Sophia Way is when we can move women into housing. Both, the woman and her case manager at The Sophia Way, share in the sheer joy and relief.

Recently, Luciana* moved into her apartment. Read about her journey from homelessness to housing that she shares in a conversation with Dietra Clayton, Lead Housing Case Manager at The Sophia Way.

On The Job With Tara Noyes
“What I love most about my job is the work that The Sophia Way does and the people that I get to do it with. Each of my coworkers and all of our volunteers are some of the kindest, smartest, strongest, and most inspiring people I've met."

Tara Noyes is the Operations Manager and Volunteer Coordinator at The Sophia’s Way.

An Inspiring Project
Emi Takayama is a young student who, as part of a school project, explored over 30 days what life is like for a woman experiencing homelessness and the challenges she faces daily.

Her passion and strength is an inspiration to all.

The Queen of Wash & Fold
"I’ve never been one who enjoys doing laundry, but I have to admit that I enjoy folding things like towels, sheets, and blankets because they’re easy, square, and appeal to my compulsive side when I create a perfect stack! If this is something you also like to do, you’re going to love this story."

Linda Benson, Director of Community Development at The Sophia Way, writes about her experience of taking a load of more than 70 blankets from our Emergency Shelter to a laundromat and getting them back clean and folded.
