Happy October! Or, as we like to say around the (virtual) SL water cooler: the toughest deadline month all year. As we race to the finish line in the production of the 2021 Sophisticated Giving Charity Register and the Holiday issue of Sophisticated Living Columbus, I wish I had more brainpower to offer something insightful or profound in this intro to this e-newsletter, but I can tell you that if I were not on deadline, I would head over to my close friend Connie's divine Leál Boutique for the last day of the Suprema Trunk Show. I treated myself to a shearling coat from last year's collection, and I am *almost* wishing for a cold day so I can pull it back out. And, my girls have already called dibs on who gets it when I am gone (does this just get worse as the years go on??).
Speaking of the Charity Register, if you have a favorite nonprofit you'd like to see recognized, hit reply to this email and let me know. They may already be included, but we have a precious few spots left - so it is worth a discussion.

Apple and Pumpkin Picking
As the temperature drops, we want nothing more than to throw on our favorite Fall jacket and head to one of the many orchards that surround Columbus. Baking an apple pie or carving pumpkins with a spooky movie playing in the background and a drink or two sounds like an ideal October night-in to us!
We're so excited to visit the Franklin Park Conservatory again, and we can't think of a better time to visit than for the annual Pumpkins Aglow display. Hundreds of Jack-O-Lanterns and other seasonal horticulture will transform the conservatory into the perfect family or date night out.

Long-awaited vegan and vegetarian friendly True Food Kitchen has finally opened its doors at Easton Town Center. Founder Dr. Andrew Weil is a physician and renowned for integrative medicine, and True Food's menu reflects his expertise. Their food is selected and prepared according to the anti-inflammatory pyramid, which helps reduce inflammation and promotes long-term health. Chapman's Eat Market in German Village opened mid-August, and has already created quite a buzz. Their menu is varied and unique - they offer seven(!) different flavors of ice cream in addition to their entrées, appetizers, and extensive drink menu. Chapman's offers reservation-only dining for parties of up to four people as well as takeout.

Kaleidoscope Youth Center
Tuesday marked the 21st anniversary of the death of Matthew Shepard, who was brutally beaten and left to die at the hands of fellow college students simply because he was gay. KYC is the largest and longest-standing organization in Ohio solely dedicated to serving and supporting LGBTQ youth. KYC works to provide a safe place, programming, and leadership opportunities so that youth can be free to explore who they are and empowered to become their confident, truest self.
