Happy end of summer, y’all!
While browsing decorations for my baby girl’s high school graduation party (the last for this empty nester!), a common phrase caught my eye and stuck with me: “The days are long, but the years are short.” It rang as true when I was selecting toddler pictures for her photo boards as it does while we finalize this issue, marking the 8th anniversary for the Columbus edition. Time, as they say, flies when you are having fun. Post-covid (well, post-covid-shutdowns anyway), I think we can all agree: time flies whether you are having fun or not. MCBRIDE SISTERS WINE COMPANY
Half-sisters Robin McBride and Andréa McBride John grew up in world-class winemaking regions but on separate continents and no knowledge of one another until they were young adults. Robin hails from Monterrey, California, while Andréa spent the first 16 years of her life in New Zealand. While their father, who died in 1996, was not a prominent figure in their lives, their reunion was the fulfillment of his dying wish.

SOMETHING NEW UNDER THE SUN
Part of the VRetreats collection, managed by Italy's VOI Hotels, Ca Di Dio's three-story structure has served as a hostel for Crusaders and later as a hospice for women. Spanish architect Patricia Urquiola spearheaded the three-year renovation. Strict historic preservation guidelines prevented changes to the Istrian stone façade dotted with 442 windows and the interior floorplan, resulting in an aura of austere elegance.
