Dear Trinity Episcopal Church,

I've been reflecting on the last seven years of my ministry. As the Gospel of John says, in this ministry and from God's fullness, I have received "grace upon grace" (John 1:16). Truly, I have so much gratitude for this life I've been given, and I want to share with you some of those reflections.

Since my last sabbatical in 2019, I've personally baptized 29 people and prepared 7 more to be baptized by a bishop, I have officiated 7 weddings, and I have presented 48 people to be confirmed or received into the Episcopal Church. Mournfully, I have officiated 59 funeral services.

As I think back over the last seven years, I also recognize that I've led two churches (Holy Comforter, Spring and Trinity, Galveston) during the covid-19 pandemic. That time seems both so long ago and like it was just yesterday.

More specifically, in these past five years at Trinity, together we had one major hurricane, a capital campaign, and three Heads of School. I also want to reflect on and celebrate your generosity - our annual budget has grown consistently every year since 2021. This has allowed us to expand our ministry and footprint in the Galveston community and to bring on more staff, especially our curate, the Rev. Chase Bradley.

Personally, this has also been a season of tremendous spiritual growth for my family. Your kindness and faithfulness have helped all three of us grow deeper in our faith.

Moreover, this has been an abundant season of ministry, and I very much look forward to all that God has in store for us in the time ahead.

With grace and peace,

Jimmy
