How can one incorporate
more silence into their daily life?
What was truly engaging about this book was that, apart from the wisdom, the author easily outlines ways in which you can incorporate silence into your daily life.
I’ve compiled a few for you here:
1. Try to visualize a calm environment.
For me, it's a moment when I was sitting by the beach watching the sunset.
Whenever you feel anxious, try to go back to this exact calm environment and stay there for a while.
2. As soon as you wake up, smile and feel happy about one more day that you've been granted to live on this planet.
Take a deep breath, and sit for 5 minutes in silence, just focusing on your breath.
In just a few minutes of breathing mindfully, we can awaken to the fact that we're alive - we're breathing in, we're breathing out.
We are here.
3. Take a walk and count your steps.
As you walk, don’t think about anything else - just free your mind and count your steps.
Walking is a wonderful way to clear the mind.
In order to really enjoy the steps you take while walking, allow your mind to completely let go of any worry or plan.
You just walk, and while you're focusing on walking, joy and awareness come naturally.
The author talks about many such examples in which you can integrate silence into your life.
This not only makes your life better, but also improves the lives of those around you.
I’m glad I added this book to my library, and I recommend getting it if you’re interested in learning more.
I encourage you to think about how you can slow yourself down, and create more mindful moments in your day.
A Few of the Many Benefits Associated with Mindfulness
- You will be better able to live in the present moment, as opposed to dwelling on the past (which is unchangeable) or the future (which is subject to change).
- You will be able to strengthen your emotional intelligence, which means greater awareness of your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, as well as their impact on others.
-
You will develop a greater sense of overall well-being, including reduced stress levels and mood disturbances, as well as a greater sense of empathy and likelihood to engage in altruistic behaviors.
