NJASA Drives Collaborative Revisions

to 2025 - 2026 State Assessment Schedule

The leadership and advocacy of NJASA officers and members of the Curriculum and Instruction Committee were instrumental in shaping NJDOE’s revisions to the 2025 - 2026 statewide assessment schedule. Through ongoing dialogue and collaboration - most recently on February 19, representatives of NJASA elevated member concerns regarding the original Spring 2026 testing window - particularly challenges related to local scheduling, unexpected school closures, and religious observances.

NJDOE’s proactive engagement of school district administrators to strengthen communication was central to this process. NJASA members felt valued as professionals, with their input directly shaping decisions. A key takeaway was the Commissioner’s commitment to learning from the field and elevating practitioner voice through a strong, ongoing feedback loop.

These revisions underscore the impact of NJASA leadership and NJDOE’s commitment to collaboration, ensuring that statewide decisions are responsive to the realities of school districts while supporting equitable opportunities for all students.
