Journey to the Superintendency

On May 16, 2025, NJASA President Nelyda Perez took center stage as a featured panelist on AASA's virtual event,

Journey to the Superintendency.”

Alongside four other superintendents, President Perez offered valuable insights into her path to educational leadership, highlighting the unexpected opportunities and defining moments that shaped her career trajectory. The event provided aspiring superintendents with real-world perspectives on navigating the complexities of reaching executive leadership in education.

“Trust and believe in yourself because you can do it…make sure everyone in your community knows who you are, what your values are, and what you believe in, and once they know that, you’re building trust with every stakeholder,” said President Perez inspiring hope to over 100 district leaders across the country. Updating the NJASA Advisory Network

In 2023, NJASA created the NJASA Advisory Network as a platform for members to connect with other members. This network of successful, experienced superintendents and other central office leaders offers support to peers by answering inquiries about common challenges of school and district operations.

NJASA is looking to enhance and expand the network and is asking your assistance in completing a short survey reporting your extraordinary experiences from a predetermined checklist. To complete the brief survey, click here

Thank you for your interest and commitment to support NJASA Members! Please email Frank Borelli, Director of Professional Development; Judy Rattner, Director of Special Projects; or Dr. Mark Stanwood, Director NJ School Administrator Residency Program; with any questions.
