NJASA Administrative Guide:
Publication of Meeting and Legal Notices on School District Websites
| | The Star Ledger announced that, effective February 2025, it would end publishing its print newspaper. In addition, Advance Local, which owns NJ Advance Media and NJ.com, announced that it would cease print publication of its newspapers - The Times of Trenton, the South Jersey Times, and the Hunterdon County Democrat. The cessation of the publication of physical newspapers caused public officials to be concerned about notice obligations under state laws, including the Open Public Meetings Act. This concern prompted the Legislature to enact legislation to shift from print media to online digital media for legal notices. This Administrative Guide discusses the new law governing the publication of legal advertisements and meeting notices. | | |
