$40 Million Available for Small Business Grants

The 2023 Source Grant provides $40 million in grants to small businesses to help stabilize operations, foster recovery and resiliency, and advance equity. The press event on July 19 featured President Toni Preckwinkle and other County representatives along with grant administrators and small business owners.

“Restaurants and bars have been hit particularly hard over the past few years,” Toia said. "Throughout all this, the Cook County Small Business Source has been a vital source of guidance, support and stability to thousands of small businesses.”


Sam Toia, President of the Illinois Restaurant Association, advocated for funding of the Cook County Small Business Source, which provides small businesses with no-cost business advice, resources and access to events.

Black Business Month


This August, join us as we celebrate Black Business Month, a time to recognize and appreciate the contributions of Black-owned businesses in Cook County.


Since the Source’s inception in 2020, 75% of the more than 13,000 small businesses served are owned by people of color, demonstrating our commitment to assisting a historically underserved segment of the business community. Let’s use this moment to support Black-owned businesses this month and beyond.
