MESSAGE FROM THE CITY MANAGER
Greetings South Fulton ,

I am honored to serve the City of South Fulton under the leadership of the Honorable Mayor William “Bill” Edwards and the seven dynamic members of our City Council.

I am pleased to present the South Fulton Monthly , the City’s official e-newsletter. Great things are happening in the City of South Fulton--- from traffic improvement projects, to fun family-friendly events, City administered services (e.g. fire, police, parks, and recreation) to opportunities to provide public input on key issues that affect our quality of life. This newsletter is one of many offerings that you will see from the City, that will make it easy for you as residents and business owners to stay informed and engaged with your local government.

South Fulton is one of Georgia’s five largest cities, with a population of more than 100, 000 residents, home to more than 1,200 businesses, covering a diverse geographic area of more than 85 square miles. Leveraging Council’s five key priorities (1. Improve parks and recreation 2. Improve public safety 3. Economic Development 4. Updating Comprehensive & Land Use Plans 5. Create Branding & Messaging) for the City, our staff is committed to ensuring our residents receive world class customer service, and access to resources that support a safe, inclusive, innovative, and economically vibrant city. Please accept this offering as an early step along the path of realizing this goal. #OnwardSouthFulton

PARKS & RECREATION DEPARTMENT TRANSITIONS TO COSF

The City is excited to welcome the Parks & Recreation Department. On May 28th, the Department will officially become a part of the City of South Fulton. Be on the lookout for exciting events, new programming and opportunities related to Parks & Recreation. FULTON COUNTY PROPERTY ASSESSMENT UPDATE
Fulton County property owners should expect to receive 2018 property assessment notices in the mail starting this week.

Although property assessment notices include estimates of tax (as required by Georgia law) they are not tax bills. Tax bills will be mailed later this year after millage rates are set by cities, school boards and Fulton County.

We Celebrate Year 1 !
The City of South Fulton was incorporated on May 1, 2017. The City now provides a variety of municipal services including Police, Fire, Community Development and soon Parks! We are excited to celebrate one year and look forward to many more!

COSF's City Hall is located at 5440 Fulton Industrial Blvd SW, City of South Fulton, GA 30336.

POLICE
The City of South Fulton Police Department was established on March 26th, 2018. Chief Sheila Rogers was named as Interim Police Chief on March 5th, 2018. Our Police Department is committed to enhancing the quality of life in COSF by developing partnerships with the community and other stakeholders in a manner that promotes problem solving and preserves a safe environment through professional law enforcement.

FIRE
The City of South Fulton Fire Department was established on February 26th, 2018. Chief Larry Few serves as the first permanent Fire Chief.

Our Fire Department is an important part of our community providing fire suppression, rescue, fire prevention, emergency medical services and disaster preparedness.

PLANNING & ZONING
The City coordinates Planning & Zoning activities in support of Community & Economic Development.

Planning & Zoning activities include providing property zoning information, rezoning of properties, use permits, zoning condition modifications, and zoning variances.  

The City of South Fulton City Planning Commission oversees all zoning and planning of the City. The City of South Fulton Zoning Board of Appeals oversees all zoning and planning appeals regarding real property within the city’s borders.

PERMITS & LICENSES
Business License services is responsible for the collection of occupational taxes and issuance of Occupational Tax Certificates (Business Licenses) within COSF.

COSF requires all commercial and residential businesses operating within the City to obtain and maintain a business license. The business license requirement enables the City to maintain a database of businesses that operate within the City that is used for police emergency responses, sales tax purposes, and a multitude of demographic studies.

CODE ENFORCEMENT
Code Enforcement works in partnership with the citizens of COSF to improve the quality of life in our neighborhoods through implementation and enforcement of the City's Housing, Zoning, Graphics, Health, Sanitation, and Safety Codes.

Our goal is to promote a positive image of Code Enforcement to our community and our allied City Departments by fostering a culture that is helpful, approachable, knowledgeable, and of the highest integrity.

PARKS & RECREATION
The COSF Parks and Recreation Department plays an active and critical role in our community's quality of life.

The staff is responsible for providing a variety of recreational opportunities that will meet the needs of all residents. The Parks and Recreation Department is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the City's 16 recreation centers, four clay tennis courts, over 30 hard tennis courts, 20 trap and skeet houses, three gymnasiums, an indoor natatorium, and 37 athletic fields.

MUNICIPAL COURTS
The COSF Municipal Court adjudicates cases arising out of violations of traffic laws, local ordinances and certain State misdemeanors

The mission of the Municipal Court is to provide an impartial forum for the fair administration of justice in a manner that balances the rule of law and the respect of all persons.

CITY CLERK'S OFFICE
The City Clerk is the official record keeper for the City and responsible for recording the Council’s official actions in minutes, maintaining ordinances, resolutions, and agreements, coordinating records management and retention programs for the City. 

The City Clerk attends, coordinates, and facilitates all City Council meetings, distribute agendas, takes minutes and publicizes all information which is required to be publicized by the law.

IN THE NEWS
The City of South Fulton is proud to be recognized as a Qualified Local Government (QLG) by the Department of Community Affairs (DCA).

The designation permits the City access to a package of financial resources from DCA and local, state and federal entities.

The Fulton Industrial Community Improvement District (CID) aka Boulevard CID is seeking proposals from artists or artist teams for the commission of a site specific outdoor sculpture that will be situated in the hardscape area at the I-20/Fulton Industrial Blvd. Interchange West-bound off-ramp.

COSF EVENT RECAP:
PROPERTY ASSESSMENT TOWN HALL
On Thursday May 17th,. the City hosted a Town Hall to discuss the 2018 Property Assessments.

Mr. Dwight Robinson, Fulton County Chief Appraiser, and Ms. Anna Roach, Chief Strategy Officer for the County Managers Office presented information to help educate property owners about the 2018 Property Assessment Notices that were mailed out beginning May 22nd.
