This year, we launched SPII, opened the Hope St Parklet, expanded our award-winning public art program, welcomed 10 new businesses, and held events to connect you with the BID, your neighbors, and South Park's small businesses. Thank you for being a part of it!

As a reminder, there have been a few changes to the South Park team. Jessica begins her new role as CEO of the Central City Association on January 3. We're sad to see her go, but hope you'll join us in congratulating her on this exciting new role!

Ellen Riotto will be assuming the role of Interim Executive Director and can still be reached at ellen@southpark.la Wallis Locke has stepped into the role of Director of Communications and Policy, and can be reached at wallis@southpark.la.

 The SPBID and Club Pilates invite you to celebrate health and wellness at the first Green Carpet of 2017!

The Club Pilates team has more combined hours studying, training, teaching and practicing Pilates than any other Pilates studio in existence.  Club Pilates believes that Pilates is the finest strength-training workout available for anyone, at any age. It's a path to a fuller, richer, healthier and more satisfying life.

Club Pilates will offer event attendees two free intro classes at 5:30 PM  and 6:30 PM, and free class passes. Attendees will be entered into a raffle for Club Pilates merchandise, additional free classes, and a three month membership.

New Trash Cans for South Park II BID 
New Trash Cans Placed Throughout South Park II trashcans

In June, the South Park II Committee and Board Members approved the installation of 14 new trash cans in the SPII BID. The trash cans arrived and were placed by the clean and safe teams on December 13. More trash cans in SPII will help ensure cleaner streets and sidewalks in the district.

A DTLA fashion voice for nearly a decade, Brigade LA was the first to offer designer ready-to-wear goods to an evolving downtown market.
Now located directly across the
street from The Ritz-Carlton Los Angeles and JW Marriott L.A. LIVE Hotels on the lobby level of the Courtyard by Marriott/Residence Inn, Brigade LA presents an  elevated selection of women's and men's apparel, leather goods, shoes, accessories and gift items to both  residents and visitors. 

Shoppers with a taste for Tissott, Marc Jacobs, Leota, Kate Spade, Canada Goose,  UGG, Michael Kors, and Steve Madden will have a new go-to resource for designer merchandise. 

While the selection is predominately for women, Brigade offers Vince, Ted Baker and Diesel for men and  is actively expanding its offerings further for men and children.

City Considers Proposal for Legal Street Vending

Los Angeles City Councilmembers Joe Buscaino and Curren D. Price have authored a framework for a proposal to decriminalize and regulate sidewalk vending within the City of Los Angeles. The BID looks forward to working with the City and other to ensure the proposal is inclusive and reflective of all South Park stakeholders' needs.

For the fourth year, Grand Park + The Music Center's N.Y.E.L.A. will be the go-to central gathering place in Los Angeles where Angelenos from all over the County ring in the New Year. 

This unique civic event, which has been recognized alongside major New Year's Eve celebrations around the world, brings Angelenos and their families and friends together around the common purpose of looking forward to the future. 

Grand Park + The Music Center's N.Y.E. L.A. will include music, dancing, large-scale art installations and a unique only-in-Los Angeles New Year's countdown, featuring 3-D digital video mapping on the side of the iconic City Hall with an integrated light show.

Temporary Streetlight Installation and Tree Removal 


Construction on the MyFigueroa project has begun in South Park. Temporary street lighting along 11th Street has been installed, and tree removal on 11th and Figueroa will begin soon. 

We'll be sharing information, including lane and street closures on facebook and twitter as construction schedules are finalized.

Maintenance Crew Keeps South Park Clean 


Starting in 2015, South Park's Clean Team has focused on a monthly special project in order to increase the overall cleanliness of the neighborhood.

This month,  the Clean Team is focused on
repainting light poles, and removing stickers and graffiti from poles, newspaper stands, fences, and electrical boxes.  

In previous months the Clean Team has focused on steam and pressure washing,  cleaning the utility boxes and alleys, touching up walls, and graffiti and weed removal.

Safety Team

Our Safety Team is  always  making strides in improving the security of South Park. Patrolling 24-hours a day, seven days a week by foot, bike, Segway, or vehicle, the Safety Team assists with activities such as public street disorder, and panhandling, in addition to visitor assistance, special events support, and accompanied walk services.
