11th Mural In South Park
New Mural In SP at Packard Lofts
The SPBID and NOW Art LA are proud to announce the 11th mural in South Park by celebrated artist, Remed, located on the south-facing wall of Packard Lofts at Hope and Olympic Sts.
The mural
is part of the BID's broader Public Art Strategic Plan
, which aims to curate an inclusive and representative cultural narrative of the South Park neighborhood.
For inspiration and vision, Remed spent time meeting with South Park community members and learning about the history of the building and area from Packard Lofts co-owner, Joseph Emrani.

MyFigueroa Project Groundbreaking
Streetscape Improvements Impacting 11th and Figueroa Sts
Monday, October 24, marked the beginning of construction for the MyFig Project. MyFig will transform the Figueroa Corridor into a complete, multi- modal street that better serves the needs of pedestrians, bicyclists, transit riders, and drivers alike.

Parks Dedication & Fee Update Ordinance
Approved Park Fees and Land Dedication Ordinance
The City Council adopted the Resolution amending the Public Recreation Plan of the Service Element of the General Plan and the Parks Dedication and Fee Update Ordinance on Sept 7th. The Ordinance was signed by the Mayor on Sept 13th and it will go into effect on January 11, 2017.

Recap: 10/25 Creating Engaging and Sustainable Alleys In An Urban Environment
On October 25, SPBID Director of Real Estate and Planning Josh Kreger gave a presentation on South Park's green alley pilot project to the American Planning Association's California Conference attendees.
The presentation focused on the work the BID has done collaborating with neighborhood developer Mack Urban, Council District 14 and City Departments to create a pedestrian friendly alley on the block bounded by 12th, Olive, Hill and Pico.
Alley elements may include distinctive paving, climbing vines, market lighting and removable bollards. The presentation was followed by a panel discussion with input from attending city planners.

SPBID Clean Team's Monthly Focus
Maintenance Crew Keeps South Park Clean
Starting in 2015, South Park's Clean Team focuses on a monthly special project in order to increase the overall cleanliness of the neighborhood.
This month,
the Clean Team focused on
Washing all 117 trashcans throughout the district for a total of 17,400 Sq. Ft of pressure washing.
Earlier this year, the Clean Team steam washed select locations in the district, pressure-washed every trash can in the district,
removed weeds from all local tree wells, removed graffiti, touched up walls with paint, and cleaned the utility boxes and alleys.

Our Safety Team is
always
making strides in improving the security of South Park. Patrolling 24-hours a day, seven days a week by foot, bike, Segway, or vehicle, the Safety Team assists with activities such as public street disorder, and panhandling, in addition to visitor assistance, special events support, and accompanied walk services.
