SECRET TALENT: As some may know, I do pretty well in karaoke; or rather, I just like to have fun when doing so. But I also like to play guitar and have been since 2002. I took about a year’s worth of lessons, so mostly self-taught and played with a few friends back in college. I like to think I am better at playing guitar than singing karaoke...
CLAIM TO FAME: I actually really enjoy cooking, especially within the last few years. My proudest dish is making chicken gyros from scratch. Made my own marinade and my own tzatziki sauce, and the chicken was tender and juicy. It was even further solidified by the fact that the original dish I had planned on getting was out of stock, so I had to plan this entire meal while standing in the grocery aisle.
OBLIGATORY CONSTRUCTION FACTOID: Will never forget the days when my dad would pick me up from Pre-K school at noon and take me to his single-family construction jobsites. I thought it was the coolest thing ever. Until he would take a broom that was greater in every dimension than me, put it in my hands and tell me to start sweeping. It was then I learned that there is only one way, one technique and one progression to sweep properly and efficiently. But hey, at least I got a donut cruller and a sports drink at the end of the day – and I guess I found another thing I am good at, reluctantly.
CONTEMPLATIVE THOUGHT OF THE DAY: I enjoy watching documentaries and shows on ancient sites like the Pyramids of Giza, Newgrange in Ireland, and Machu Picchu in Peru. Even though it’s explained, I still can’t fathom how amazing it is these sites were constructed without modern technology or tools and align perfectly to solstices and equinoxes. Petra in Jordan is pretty fascinating to think about too.
